Does anyone do the Burns Night thing here and have the traditional meal?
I quite haggis (with the mashed potato and swede), so sue me
I believe the Scots word for potato/swede is neaps (turnip/swede) and tatties (potato), but is it used often?

I used to when I was in Uni. Mainly because someone would organise a really nice caleigh with plenty of food and drink.
My company's got something organised but I can't really be assed hanging out with them. It is popular here. Mark you doing anything?

If thats a genuine question, its' to celebrate (?) the anniversary of the death of 18th century Scots poet Robert Burns, why they couldn't celebrate his birth beats me.

It's a traditional Scottish dance/ball; you generally get food as well + plenty of drinks.
