Back To the Future - Best version?

Post by wolf.xl »

Hi Guys,

I need some advice. I'm thinking of picking up the new Back to the Future boxset on sale at play for 16 quid. My question is whether this is the best version to go for?

My Dad got this and the widescreen framing for Part 2 is now correct.

Does the new box set have ALL the extras from the original R1?

Actually looking into it the R1 box set has an additional commentary but the UK R2 has some extra interviews:

Has the AV been remastered? What's different to this than the old box set? Bar the framing of course.

Fuck no. It's missing some of the commentaries present on the R1 boxset.

That's not a big loss losing one commentary when you gain DTS.

No, you're losing FIVE commentaries. 1 on the BITF1 and 2 each on BITF2&3.

Oh yes I thought only the second commentary was missing I didn't realise the sequels had no commentaries at all.

I don't mind losing a commentary if one is left behind but to have no commentaries. That's a weird move.

Can someone explain what's on the bonus disc? As the R1 is 3 discs but the new UK R2 and R4 are 4 discs. All I can think of is meaty interviews and therefore possibly evening it out + DTS of course!

Basically it's all the R1 extras (except the commentaries) that were left off the original R2/4 boxset.

Ah yes good point. I wonder how long the interviews are but like you say no commentary is an issue.
