Infernal Affairs Trilogy "Ultimate Edition"

Post by grim_tales »

I read this article on Debate.. this set looks interesting because of the re-ordering thing, but not essential IMO. US$99 is expensive, and I bet the extras wont be subtitled.
I bet Cooey/Tigger would love this :P ;)
When is Tartan IA3 out (or have Megastar fixed the audio on the standalone release of IA3?)

Are you sure? How many discs are there Tigger? Isn't it 2 discs for each film (including the extras) then the 3 films re-edited? :what:

I would have brought the UE but since I have IA2 R3 Limited Edition I might as well build my collection around that. Of course if someone was to buy if off me (its still sealed) then it would be a different matter ;)

Has the R3 audio been fixed??

I've updated the article slightly to include an additional image of the contents of the box (including the booklet), if anyone's interested. Cheers.

I'll be getting the Tartan IA2 and 3. There is no need to make them 2 discs each anyway, it's not as if the exras are all that extensive.
[/quote]

Bradavon your missing the point :) how do you know the extras are not extensive? you aint got the set, and Tartan are still shit so why even bother? I just hope Tartan go bust very soon bunch of morons!

basically the sets a bargain for people who dont own the old versions, but I do :( the L.E. of parts 2 and 3 :( no way I will sell them now, I aint even watched them yet.

Romero if you're going to quote me from a completely different site, firstly why not reply on that one and secondly please make it clear.

Secondly I have IA and the extras only add up to a making of, a n alternate ending and a commentary or there abouts. The film is roughly 100 minutes long with DTS so put simply all that will easily fit on 1 DVD-9 (which Tartan have proven).

Hence my point that there is no need to really put them on a second disc. I'm confident the extras for IA2 and 3 are the same.

Thirdly I strongly disagree Tartan are shit, sure they used to be but I've been happy with their recent releases.

"The Ringu trilogy" is fine, "Infernal Affairs" is fine and "Japanese Story" is great. Besides if they go bust like you wish that would just mean one less company on the market releasing DVDs with English subbed extras etc . . . Not something I want. Their closest competitor "Artifical Eye" do produce superior DVDs picture wise but that's about it, most of their DVDs are DVD2.0 and they release a lot less DVDs anyway.

Sure it's a bargain but personally I'd prefer subbed extras over a chronological cut which would ruin the films to an extent IMO anyway.

Besides I already own Tartan's IA DVD.

Now you're just guessing, no one knows this for sure.

I'm betting disc 1-6 will be exactly the same as the current DVDs.

Hey Tartan are still making massive mes ups, so in my eyes they are shit, just looks at the patetic release of Twighlight Samurai! why even bother! or the 53rd version of the Eye which still isnt right! I hate them and they are eveil.

and hey the extra dvds for each fim are not the same as the old ones from what I hear so they are different, and we will have to wait to see if the transfer and sound are the same, as some people do have them now, but wont talk for some insane reason!!!!!!!:erm:

I doubt it's no better or worse than the HK DVD. But it is twice the price so fair enough on that one.

The Eye all releases are sub-par but at least this one is anamorphic with DTS. Sure it's not worth £11.99 so I'll simply wait until the price comes down.

Umm interesting. The spec. listed on DVD Debate makes them look the same!

But what are those 10 minutes of extra footage for part 1 all about? Probably new extras indeed?
