Sex offenders in schools?

Post by grim_tales »

Do you think the media has been OTT and hysterical about this? (They often are?) :? I can see why people would be upset though, why have sex offenders been cleared? They should not be allowed to work with children IMO, end of - as there's always danger.

On the other hand, what about the case of that PE teacher? AFAIK he was not charged, let alone convicted, why is he on the sex offenders register? :?

As usual the subject isn't black and white.

There's quite a difference between the man who had sex with a 15-year old girl in 1980 and the paedophile who raped a 7 year old girl.

One is a mistake, the other is grotesque. Yet society classifies them as the same.

That can't be right.

I would say that once convicted of a sexual offence involving a child no person should be aproved to teach in schools. I don't believe they should be automatically hounded out of other jobs, even if they occasionally come into contact with kids, but specifically teaching (and by extension youth coaching) is different.

Child abuse in its purest form is a terrible thing, but if 'we' as society and the media can keep a rational head these things can get sorted best for everyone.

Actually I stand corrected, the PE teacher had looked at CP on his PC (I think), but he hadnt actually committed any acts with children. This IS wrong (looking at CP) and having sex with an underage girl is wrong, yet you're right, there is a difference IMO.

What if the 15 year old girl had said she was 16, you know? Why is the male always made out to be the bad guy?

Good point but at that young age he shouldn't have taken her word for it. Ignorance isn't an excuse!

It works both way generally speaking if women sleep around they're sluts, men the're studs. Even today, how is that right? IMO you're not a slut or stud, as long as you use protection you're airing your right do do so. I'm going off topic.

Bad example but: If I crash into the back of a car it's not the drivers fault for suddenly braking it's mine for driving to close.

Actually that's a very bad example but it oddly fits.

I heard on the news that the teacher/girl actually married and had children, he said that the girl had been a totally willing participant.

the consensual sex where one of the people involved is just below the age of consent is a hard one in as much as some 15 year old s are more mature than some 18 year old, but of course it is necessary that the la states specifics leaving no room for arguement. stil in terms of teacher student relationships, like any proffessional relationship where one person relies on another the line shouldnt have been crossed and the fact that they did cross the line suggests that they are not really suited to the environment.
