Never heard of any of those films (apart from The 400 Blows of course), I'm sure that will be better quality than the current Tartan DVD, I wonder what they'll do for it?

I love Les 400 Coups (The 400 blows).
François Truffaut at his best IMO.
I only found out about it recently in a Maggie Cheung interview. When she said it was her favourite french film I had to see it.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Hey,
I found the new 400 Blows at Amazon, its' actually out on 9 May.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E5 ... ance&n=130
Its almost certainly cheaper elsewhere but just to give you an overview.
I'll be getting this

Exactly why, why bother.
I have far better films to watch. I couldnt care less if the all mighty amazing overated Criterion release a film and then magically go out and buy it just becuase they release it, but sadly many do just that. If a small unknown company released them many of the people would not even bother buying the films on dvd, only the fans.

Exactly although to dis a film just because it's not Korean, Chinese or American seems odd to me. You're far to quick to blast Mainland European films based on your knowledge of about 2.romerojpg wrote:I have far better films to watch. I've no doubt 400 Blows is very good. Critierion pretty much only release classic films.
There's supposed to be some real gems. I've not seen any either.EvaUnit02 wrote:I haven't seen any European new wave films from the 60's/70's.
Agreed. I own 3 but don't make a point of it as they're to expensive:EvaUnit02 wrote:Criterion do some very good releases, I still don't think that the premium price is justified though.
Ran, Traffic, Last Temptation of Christ
I plan to get Charade too.
That says it all. To put out such a blanket statement on an entire continent (I presume you're excluding the UK?) seems very hyprotrical considering you've blasted me in the past for saying I'm not particulary interested in seeing Shaws Brothers films.romerojpg wrote:Never see any and never want to
I even remember you saying they were all different so I shouldn't limit myself to 1-2. I guess to you this doesn't apply to the French New Wave cinema?

Where did I say any of this
I never once blasted an entire continent, I said I didnt want to see the films on this thread, 6 dvds.
I didnt dis them just becuase they are not Korean, Chinese or American either
you really do read way to deep into things like so many other people on this forum, you make it up as you go along
And how on earth have you come to conclusion that I have seen 2 Mainland European
Crikey man you love imagining things that are not there (like others do)
but hey it wont kill me

Nope I have never dised an entire culture, continent, country etc.. I may slag off the films I have seen, but I havent seen them all so I could never do thatbradavon wrote:You're being to literal, obviously I didn't mean you said those things literally but you've often dissed non-Asian or American films saying they're all rubbish to you.
