My Dad has it. Probably only suitable for widescreen TVs as it's - as Salty says - verrry wide.

Doesn't that make it look really sweet though? The official spec. has been up at DVD Times for a while.

I'll be getting this for sure it looks tops, so does the film. I'm not really keen to pay for the silent version (I doubt I'd ever watch it) but that can't be helped.

Mark is your Dad big into importing? My Dad isn't he only buys UK R2 despite having had a few multi-region players:

A: His girlfriends DVD player isn't multiregion and needs to be chipped to make it so
B: He likes buying ex-rentals (Brad shudders) as he thinks he's getting a bargain and only ever buys ad-hoc in a shop browsing for titles

Its out in UK in Feb. Image seems to have more information at the sides compared to the R1 but misses out on the isolated score.

I think im gonna wait for the R2, i have the soundtrack on CD so no need for the isolated music track.

Not all players have remote hacks built into them.

The big boys such as Panasonic (which I think she has), Sony etc... rarely/if ever do. I look ages ago, a few times.

It's uber dumb IMO. I'd have bought a new player well by now but there you go (no point in paying to fit a chip really).
