DVDSOON : Important Client Advisory / Credits at DVDSoon.com

Post by tom2681 »

Dear Client;

It is with a lot of regret and sadness that we must announce the closure
of the company 9086 - 8316 Québec Inc who managed the operations of
DVDSoon.com.

The assets of DVDSoon.com have been taken by Canadian
Distribution Services which means the site will remain open and all
activities will be maintained. Therefore all pending orders will be
honored.

Unfortunately all operations that were suspended and were the
responsibility of 9086 - 8316 Québec Inc will not be honored.
These operations include credits, refunds, replacement requests,
and Fidelity iPoints.

If you wish to obtain more information please send your questions to:

9086 - 8316 Québec Inc.
1001, Boul. Montarville #75023
Boucherville Québec
J4B 7Z2

We thank you for your support and your comprehension.

The Administration
'nuff said.

Bandits.

I knew this was coming. It was obvious a mile-off. I'm only surprised it didn't happen sooner.

I think that's only fair to Tom. :)

I suppose you could edit in the other relevant messages from that thread to this?

I dont have any orders with them but what will they do with my credit card info and stuff which they must still have?
Brad wrote: That doesn't say DVD Soon is closing (shame) just that it's been taken over. People who have Fidelity iPoints with them are screwed though.
Grim wrote:what will they do with my credit card info and stuff which they must still have?
Brad wrote:Nothing in theory.

If I've not logged into a site for ages I login and upload bogus details. DVD Soon may not store credit card details???
Romero wrote:yes they are bust and no we wont get a penny back, anyone who orderes from them deserves to be ripped off now.
Grim wrote:I dont think they do store CC details Brad, not sure
Mark wrote:"credits, refunds, replacement requests, and Fidelity iPoints. "

That covers about everything in favour of the consumer. Face it: these bastards have shafted their customers and should be subject to trade investigation.

Nice one Tom :)

whats odd about this is that the email implies that dvdsoon is purely a trading name. Now in the UK or US (and I assume most other european countries) they should have mentioned somewhere (usually amonsgst the legal stuff) the name of the company with legal responsability for the trading name.

checking the dvdsoon site now there is absolutely no mention of any other company name, or of dvdsoon having changed hands. I'm not too sure whether people outside of Canada can make complaints to the canadian equivelant of trading standards but for all intents and purposes it really does look like a scam plain and simple.

the idea that ALL products are still available at the same prices with no delays in the changeover strongly suggests it is the same people with the same contacts and suppliers running it, they are just trying to dodge their commitments, perhaps by shifting owenership of the dvdsoon trading name from one of their companies to another... which is still illegal..

is quebec actually in canada.. my geography sucks :P

anyway, i just wanted to add that the email neither gives a new company that is running the site and gives the supposedly closed down companies address as the contact details for questions.... scam scam scam scam scam...

if anyone wants to have a go at reporting them try here- https://www.recol.ca/intro.aspx?lang=en

you will have to register before you can ask for info, i dont have time (sorry, i mean im a lazy git and cant be bothered) but as near as i can tell from a quick search they are the best people to ask in concern to making complaints about online trade in quebec

I still don't see where it says DVD Soon has gone bust? If it turns out to be true then "I do like it when scam artists get what's coming to them".

One less e-tailor out there to rip people off!

Oops I got my hours mixed up and thought Tom's was 12:48pm, never mind. Locking Tom's despite it was first was good enough but this one will do nicely.

I've deleted your post it's cleaner than deleting when there are so few posts anyway.

It's not possible using this forums engine. We can split but not merge.

They do:

9086 - 8316 Québec Inc
Mordib wrote:is quebec actually in canada.. my geography sucks :P
Yes it's a Canadian state but equally the biggest speaking French state in Canada (it's not the only French speaking state though). It has different rules to the English speaking states of Canada but comes under Canadian rule (so in some ways British rule too, not that rule is the right word) and it's citizens have Canadian passports.

p.s - For those who don't have a credit card: GET ONE! If you're sensible with it there is no reason at all you should get in debt.

No it wasn't. Pay attention at the back.

If DVD Soon owe you money and you ordered by credit card get on to them. You can't just say your holding compay has gone bust, no debts will be honoured, but hey, we're still trading. That's fraud. Bug you card company for a result. No dount the reason Soon are making this statement is because they've been ass-fucked by the car companies and are desperately trying to cut their losses. But don't be discouraged. Pursue this until those bastards are out of business.

Romero posted this at Imports Forum:

The Company DVDSOON are saying have took them over and now run dvdsoon isnt real hahaha

read this Darkman on dvdforums sent the new compay who suposed to now own dvdsoon an email

Quote:
Dear Canadian Distribution Services Ltd,

I recently received a communication from the web retailer DVD Soon who have informed me that their assets are now controlled by yourselves. I just wanted to confirm whether this is true and, if so, why is it that you will be continuing to trade under the DVD Soon banner and yet won't be offering refunds to customers who have been swindled out of considerable sums of money?

Also, if the above is all correct, I therefore assume it would be reasonable for those of us seeking credit card chargebacks to redirect banking communications to yourselves for reimbursement?

I look forward to hearing from you

and then he got a reply from them

Quote:
Hi,

It’s not true and I have no idea who these jokers are. We are a freight forwarding company in Delta BC. I have never heard of DVD soon and I’m now under siege with emails from like minded people such as your self. I’ve tried to establish what is going on but of course cannot contact DVD soon. There may be another CDS (Canadian Distribution Services) registered in Ontario or Quebec.

Jim Honeywell

CDS

What the.... Those guys are saying Soon don't exsist? :D :?

I don't believe that's true.

As for DVD Soon I doubt it's just their international customers they're swindling no doubt Canadian customers are the same. They'll go under when enough people stop buying from them.

Just look at SplashDVD.
