DEVIL'S REJECTS UNRATED DVD...

Post by saltysam »

anyone else seen this? it's the sequel to house of a 1000 corpses but dispenses with the horror aspects of the original in favour of a "fugitive" style chase movie. it's a pretty nasty piece of work, the scene in the motel room borders on the sadistic but i enjoyed it. the good guys in this movie are nearly as bad as the firefly family! great cast including the great ken foree, i haven't watched disc 2 yet which is a 2 and a half hour making of documentary.

I have got the film, The Devil Reject, okay i will warn you, forget about the bloody hype, its not the most sickest or disturbing movie, sure there are some scenes are are uncomforable, like when Otis is raping the Singer wife in front of him and then she goes down on him, but from the hype i was expecting more. If you have seen Last House or I spit on your grave, then this is nothing to it.

If you forget the hype, then you will enjoy an quite good follow up to house of a 1000 corpse. Rob has tried to recreate a 70's movie, and it does work. Some good cast, from Dawn - Ken Foree (sp?) or something, glad he is back to making horror movies. I would say Reject is a better follow up from House, but i quite liked House of 1000 Corpse, sure the MTV was a bit OTT, but there was some good bits into this. I think you may like it saltysam, if you enjoyed 70's horror/exploitation movies. :D

i did like it slasher definitely an "old school" movie,i did think the hotel scene was a bit degrading though.possibly because i associate the actress involved, priscilla barnes with wholesome roles in 70's/80's tv movies.

Hey Saltysam, Glad you liked the movie.

I also did like the movie, i don't think i saw the actress before Priscilla Barnes in any of her 70's/80's tv movies. What was her most famous tv movie?
The hotel scene is a bit degrading, but it that type of movie i think that Rob wanted to make, to go back to an era where horror pushed the boundies in what tastful and not.
The movie is a good movie, and i think Rob Zombie is potentially a great horror director, i would like to see what next from him.
One plus point is that he didn't use rock/heavy metal for Devil Reject, instead he used country music, which was me, greatly enchanes the movie.

Exactly my thoughts as well, it finishes off the movie perfectly, and to his credit, this was clever thinking by Rob Zombie. You should rent House of 1000 Corpse and check it out, you may or may not like it, i liked it alot, but other horror fan hated it.
The plus point is you do see Baby naked in it, but she is rubbing herself with a skeleton which is a minus point :)
