I remember a few folk buying this series a while back.
However there's a new director's cut out now, with fancy packaging + gifts. No English subs though.
I think it's cheaper than the first release....

Its always been out 
the koreans got this ages ago and its a superb series I must say I loved it a lot, shame the english subbed versions a load of balls 
but its the only way to see it sadly.
The koreans got a far beter set with stunning pictrure and sound and the extra footage and amazing packaging and extras.
We english readers get non anamorphic picture and stereo sound no extras, but nice packaging I must say.
The show is worth seeing.

Damo is awesome, but i agree with romero that a "load of balls" is an accurate description of the english subtitled set from YesAsia.
It is indeed still worth buying just to see the show..but
...the picture is non-anamorphic
...the image movement is choppy at times

I watched like the first two or three episodes and lost interest. I think the last thing I saw of it was when two characters (I think a man and a woman) are fighting on a field at night which is lit so intensively, that you just see it is movie lighting.
I still have the box laying on top of my DVD player to remind me that I have to finish watching it as I have paid lots of money on it and because it was a huge pain in the ass to convince the folks to ship it to me in Germany, which they at first weren't willing to.

Hey the show is a slow starter and Damo takes time to get going and suck you in by the end you will be very into it as it did take a few episodes to get to me and make me like the people.
Still heres what I thought.

DAMO The Undercover Lady Detective 4 out of 5
A flawed Korean TV Drama come action show, but boy by the end I was hooked and really any problems the show had were just blown away by the scale and quality of the actors and the complex little story. The scope this little show had was massive, the sets and costumes, music and plot were all on a big scale and really most of the actors were bloody brilliant especially the three main leads, and the fact the leading lady was stunning looking really helped too.
The show is hard to describe really. Its about a police department in old age Korea and an evolving plot which gets bigger and bigger as the film progresses. Its basically good cops in a struggle to keep the rebels at bay and stop a counterfeiting plague as it spread deep into Korea. As the show gets deeper you get more involved, the twists and turns become far greater and by the end the whole of old age Korea is in deep peril, all exciting stuff . Well its far more complicated than that, as it is about 18 hours long! and boy there is a lot crammed into them 18 hours, but gladly its enjoyable all the way, with enough action, comedy and gorgeous Korean scenery to watch go by, that any flaws that appear just don't really register for me much.
Its ye old times and the sword rules still, barley. As guns are now coming into ruling the world, but that does not stop the main Heroes being super powerful martial arts masters with almost god like powers at times. They fight a lot and kill a lot, and sadly take to the skies and fly a lot. Flying in films isn't my favourite thing and breaking the laws of gravity just gets to me, and boy they break reality in this show. People start fighting and start jumping 50 foot in the air, people run in the air peddling there little feet as fast they can, across heads, trees and water. Still even after saying that it still works as its just fun and it isn't like that all the time. Its kind of balanced between real fights and a bit of super jumping here and there. The swordwork and general real fighting is great and all the cast do a fine job at showing us some skills they have.
You get a few fights in some episodes and some are massive scale, dare I say it Epic? as really they cram in so many people in some scenes and the fights just looks wonderful when they get stuck in and it stays realistic. Its bloody too and people are shot and stabbed many times, with bits and pieces flying all over and generally the bigger scale fights are just things of beauty to watch even if a few people take to the sky's they just sort of top off it all and give you something new to see among the intense fighting.
Its sometimes pretty emotional too and many times I had a tear in my eye and for that it succeeded well in making you like and care about certain characters, and then viciously killing them before your tearful eyes. That's what the show seems to do best, it makes you get deep into some of the casts back-story and you really end up learning a lot about many characters involved in the show. You become quite familiar with them and most the cast are very likeable and although I had never seen any of them before (I think), I ended up really loving the cast of Damo, so on the casting and acting front it really did a top job. Although it did take some time to get familiar with some of the cast, so it requires your full attention to become attached to them.
I think mention has to be given to the scenery and scale of the show. It takes place in old times and really we get to see some amazing footage of rolling hills and scenic rivers flowing thru grasslands, forests come to life with beautiful tallgreen trees. All the sets look stunning and feel very authentic and some look gigantic. Just a hut here and there in a forest or on a hill, or a large scale palace or small towns recreated perfectly with plenty of extras to populate them. Its just great looking TV which gives an impression of a large place with many towns and villages to fill up this part of Korea, it feels like a place you could get lost in.
The flaws of the show? well the silly flying did get too much at some times, but saying that it didn't seem to bug me as much as it could have as its just a part of the show and it usually went back to more normal fights after time. A few characters were a little one toned and did the same thing all the way thru the show, and showed little progression, but hey most the cast I liked so much it didn't really matter. I am sure there are plenty more flaws like bad acting etc.. but really I forgot most of them as I ended up enjoying it so much by the big finale.
In the end couldn't stop watching it and really I wanted more all the time and it usually gave me what I wanted with plenty of character back-story and anything that brings a tear to my eyes gets something right. Its not as perfect and glossy as say an American TV show, but they did great things and created a complex and very Big show unlike anything I have ever seen before. I think its my first non English TV Show and really it showed me plenty about Korea that I didn't know about and it taught me plenty and makes me want to see more like it.
