Onibaba - interesting Japanese film

Has anyone seen it?
Was thinking of picking the UK "Masters of Cinema" version.
Its' adding to a evergrowing wishlist.. DAMN YOU.... DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL...

I also noticed other Masters of Cinema titles on Play.com - one is called Humanity and Paper Balloons (?) Looks interesting though :)

I've seen it. For a black and white Japanese classic, it's not exactly Seven Samurai, but it's still pretty good. Quite a bit of topless female shots, so that alone should please some of you Image

Basically, it's an historically-based film that shows the depths that some people had to sink to in times of desperation. Thrown in is a bit of the supernatural, with some eerie atmospheric shots of reeds (?) blowing and rustling in the night. Not bad, but not great, imo.

I have the Criterion version which is really nice. Creepy cover.

The film is quite slow paced but I found it very engaging :)
