Still didn't care for the film though.

Went to see Wall-E today. Tough movie to rate tbh.

On the one hand, it's just a masterpiece. The soundtrack is perfect, the visuals are astounding, and although I had my doubts about liking the characters when I saw the stills and the trailers, they just immediately come to life, have personalities that instantly win their way into your heart, and it's just a touching story.

On the other hand, the movie is fairly straightforward, which will probably hurt the replay-value. As I said it looks stunning, so it's sad to see them mixing in some real-life acting/footage with real people and movies. It kinda takes you out of the experiences, especially with the CGI people looking so very different to the real footage.

Also, even though it's a very good, or even great movie, and I think we can pretty safely already label this a 'classic' for all the things it achieves so perfectly... it also isnt just flat-out entertaining.
My girlfriend felt it was 'boring' at times, and when I asked her which movie she liked better: Wall-E, or Kung Fu Panda, she said Kung Fu Panda.

.... and that's what so weird. Because in pretty much all aspects your rational mind KNOWS Wall-E is the better movie of the two.... but at the same time I had to agree with her that watching kung Fu Panda was just more FUN, more 'entertaining'.

Wall-E might be the movie that touched your heart, and it's characters will stay with you for a long long time.... but I'm guessing it will be Kung Fu Panda which will be popped into the DVD (or Blu-Ray) player more often to revisit time and time again, cause it's fast-paced lighthearted comedy which is pleasant to sit through.

Wall-E scores a 4.5 outta 5. Instant classic, but also has it's slight downsides (real-life footage, straight-forward)

Piss poor remake (in fact it's a sequel) fails on all levels. Shit performances,mediocre action sequences,this feels overlong even at 95 minutes. I Like Jason Statham & Ian McShane but they sleepwalk through this.A shaven headed Robin Shou makes an appearance. Surprised to see Joan Allen slumming it in this.how does Anderson still get direxting gigs?

Regarding Wall-E: Doesn't it have to be fairly straight forward for kids (of all ages) to get it? A big market it's appealing to, if not the biggest.

Watched My Sassy Girl (2008) - The Yann Samuell directed remake of my second favourite korean movie ever.

Nice enough, the mrs enjoyed it but it's not a patch on the original. Also it's practically shot for shot indentical to the original only replacing Soul for New York so expect nothing new.

I really really enjoyed this, thought it was aces!!

Every Which Way But Loose blu-ray 2.5/5

Dated but still rather enjoyable Eastwood comedy.it's not very well liked but i think it's ok The opening titles reveal the most grain i think i've ever seen on a blu-ray but the transfer settles down and seems very ood for the most part.

Intolerable Cruelty (USA, 2003) – 3/5
Refreshingly grim romantic comedy by the Coen Bros. George Clooney is terrific as an egoistic divorce lawyer.

I've never read a positive review about Intolerable Cruelty before. I thought it was rubbish but then I'm not a Coen brothers fan. Fargo and No Country for Old Men were only fairly good at best.

Bennet (Vernon Wells) looked like he had just been fired from the Village People and wandered onto the set of Commando

In the featurettes Rae Dawn chong means the homo-erotic subtext with Bennet and the way he's dressed She sounded like she had fun making the film
She still looks attractive even today
