Entirely predictable & by the numbers Karate Kid riff is still an entertaining 2 hours.using mma as it's source there are a couple of ok fights but nothing to make you jump off your chair.the wife liked it anyway

Watch Vanilla Sky instead. It shares "mostly" the same story.

Written by Luc Besson and directed by Banlieue 13 director Pierre Morel, throw in a Liam Neeson with the skills of Jason Bourne and a superb supporting cast, how could this not be aces?

The trailer was ridiculous, so I decided to skip it. Maybe I'll download it someday and give it a go.

Out For Justice blu-ray 3/5

Actioner remains one of Seagal's best movies with a simple,straightforward plot and some tough short sharp action.nice to see Inosanto in there. The blu-ray is an ok upgrade over the SD but this not HD demo material..film was shot in quite drably.

Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay - 1.5/5
The comedy is flat. The jokes are flat-out offensive. Doesn't come close to the original.

No Country For Old Men - 4/5
A shockingly enjoyable movie! I liked it a lot. Not sure it deserved the Best Picture Oscar though.

"Unbreakable" - 4/5
Really rather good, I went in without knowing anything about it except the title - not the plot and not that it was a Shyamalan (not that it took more long to work that out) - and I was impressed. The only real weakness is that is was far too overdramatic, all the music, the slow movement, serious faces... Bit much.

"Batman: Gotham Knight" - 2/5
This is the animated compilation NOT Dark Knight, and it's pretty poor to be honest. With the exception of 4°C's first which looks as good as Tekkon Kinkreet all of the studios produced animation that looked worse than even their TV output. The stories themselves were short and insignificant, even considering that they were made just to lightly to flesh out the character.

I watched the Director's Cut on Blu-ray. A mix between Blade Runner and The Matrix, it was ace.

Excellent sci-fi thriller never lets up from start to finish and holds up very well today. Arnie is ace in this. i'd heard mixed reports on the HD transfer but this BD port of the HD-DVD looks very good to my eyes.not jaw dropping but a crisp solid image is certainly easily the best i've seen this look.zilch extras on this release.the BD case incorrectly lists an aspect ratio of 2:35:1,it's nearer 1:78:1

How on earth did they manage to make a superhero film that was so unbelievably tedious? It wasn't even especially bad, just so bloody boring.

Diabolik (Italy/France, 1968) – 4/5
This was some introduction to Mario Bava. Easily one of the coolest thrillers / action films made in the 60’s. Amazing visuals, amazing score (by Morricone) and amazing style. A blast.

It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Bad story, bad casting, bad directing, bad everything.

Personally I thought it was just seriously underwhelming. Like a big non-event. SUPERMAN RETURNS! WHO CARES?? Kevin Spacey is no Gene Hackman.

I thought it was good, easily better than Superman 3 and 4. The CGI for once is actually breathtaking.

Bring on the next instalment!

Nah, I wouldnt even re-watch it if it was free on TV and nothing else was on.

Superman 3 was better (still crap, but at least enjoyable somewhat), and Superman 4 is utter utter crap.

But TBH none of the Superman movies are really good. I'm a huge superman fan, but couldnt care less about the movies or TV series.

You're joking, right?! I don't see how any studio in their right mind would resurrect the Superman franchise for yet another film after Superman Returns.

"Superman: Man of Steel" is due next 2009-2010, Singer is still directing and no I'm not joking. It's a good film! It's better than X-Men 1, no contest. It's also better than Spider-man and Spider-man 2. They're very average indeed.

X-Men 1 wasn't exactly a great film, but when Singer got the characters introductions out of the way he gave us X2. A fantastic Suoperhero film. I expect more of the same with Superman: Man of Steel.

if they want to make a good Superman film then get a new lead ,new director and new writers.Superman Returns wasn't terrible but it was resolutely average imo.

According to IMDB they are getting/have got new writers. Are you guys all forgetting Singers previous work when complaining about Superman Returns? It wasn't his first film .

X-Men was nice but not great. Same goes for X-Men 2. Source material was good, directing was nothing special tbh.

Superman Returns was just bad in pretty much every department, from story to absolutely horrendous casting, etc. CGI might have been good, but in a shitty movie, who even cares!?

I liked Spider-man 1 and 2, as they're pretty damn close to the comicbook originals, especially in the 'feel' of it. And the casting, apart from MJ "skinny bitch" Watson, is pretty damn good.
