Why dont you trust his judgement? What's wrong with your mother?BiscLimpkit wrote:I fear that if I don't find a nice desi woman (or any woman tbh) soon, then he will. I don't trust his judgement.

I didnt mean it harsh at all. He says he doesnt trust his father's judgement, and obviously the father picked the mother... so that's why I asked. It wasnt meant as a joke...thelostdragon wrote:That was a harsh one. Let's keep the mommies out.
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Re: Modern Marriage
a) Well, I don't know how it's done over in Irn Bru, but over here there are still civil rights that are only valid for married couples. Simply being married simplifies a lot of stuff (like not having to re-register you vehicle if your spouse dies! and that's about $800... just for a paper change...) --- then again I live in a country where the government loves to take all my money... and then some... only when you retire is there any negative side effects to being married --- as my mom realized when "they" cut her disability payment when my pa retired from work. Some strange rules there. (If they were NOT married she would still get the same amount... and my pa would get more from the pension fund aswell... oh well) ...Mordib wrote:a) i feel that if my partner needs the reassurance of a piece of paper that I want to be with her forever then somethings wrong and b) As far as I know even civil ceremonies require you to swear before god, so the whole thing for a non believer is kind of one big lie!
as for b) ... I can't swear to it as I've never done it, but I'm pretty sure that _any_ god has NOTHING to do with a civil ceremony over here. Because if it did I'm darn sure I'd have heard about it from all the "non-believers" out there. (They are pretty "loud" about issues like this over here... when they must, they have pretty much all they need I think to live life the way they want...)
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

That party looks like lots of fun. I'd love to go to an Indian or Muslim wedding. Actually I think I've been to an Indian wedding but I was very young so can't remember much of it.
