Why dont you trust his judgement? What's wrong with your mother?

I didnt mean it harsh at all. He says he doesnt trust his father's judgement, and obviously the father picked the mother... so that's why I asked. It wasnt meant as a joke...

a) Well, I don't know how it's done over in Irn Bru, but over here there are still civil rights that are only valid for married couples. Simply being married simplifies a lot of stuff (like not having to re-register you vehicle if your spouse dies! and that's about $800... just for a paper change...) --- then again I live in a country where the government loves to take all my money... and then some... only when you retire is there any negative side effects to being married --- as my mom realized when "they" cut her disability payment when my pa retired from work. Some strange rules there. (If they were NOT married she would still get the same amount... and my pa would get more from the pension fund aswell... oh well) ...

as for b) ... I can't swear to it as I've never done it, but I'm pretty sure that _any_ god has NOTHING to do with a civil ceremony over here. Because if it did I'm darn sure I'd have heard about it from all the "non-believers" out there. (They are pretty "loud" about issues like this over here... when they must, they have pretty much all they need I think to live life the way they want...)
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

In Germany a marriage also gives you advantages in the tax department.

Jeez Mark that really is black humour, even by your standards.

Nice pics. Your wife is cute  , as is the woman in blue with long dark hair (please say she's not really young :D)

That party looks like lots of fun. I'd love to go to an Indian or Muslim wedding. Actually I think I've been to an Indian wedding but I was very young so can't remember much of it.
