Nice one thanks Hung. English subs too!
I saw TYG the other night. The English dubbing REALLY got on my nerves, did that Thai cop really have to be a cop? What absurdity. That said I did overall enjoy much more to Ong-Bak, the fights were ace. I think I may have enjoyed it more because my expectations were much lower than last time.
Both are still very much "film-making by numbers" though. I could see Brett Ratner directing them.

Cool. More stock for little old me!
The HK DVD is up at CD WOW on pre-order for £8.99:
http://www.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2. ... de=2963160
It works out as £7.08/$13.95 using the USD Voucher Link/Code. That should be cheaper than the UK vouchers and at DDDHouse.

This Video product does not have English audio or subtitles.
The above quote taken from yes Asia.

WTF! Well spotted. I was going to buy it from CD WOW soon. I'll pop them an e-mail to get a second opinion.
DDDHouse says it has English subs:
http://www.dddhouse.com/v3/product_deta ... uctID=8582
EDIT: Bugger I guess DDDHouse are wrong

-
I have spoken with our DVD Buyer and the suppliers have confirmed that there are no English subtitles and release date has been pushed back to 30th June.
I bet Weinstein put his foot down and forced English subs be removed

. I guess he'll get his way and we'll have to wait for the eventual DD R1.

There will be fansubs available in no time, probably out there already. There are subs for the PAL r3thai DVD already, so all they have to do is retime them for the HK.

The subs for the version i watched were abysmal and made little sense.

Not me, not any more. Although I do usually pop on their site every now and again, which at a casual glance seems like they are slimming-down their Asian movie selections.

I would if I could. I find CDs are cheaper elsewhere now and rarely buy DVDs any more. I was going to use them for Chocolate though. I was also going to use them for Warlords but as the BD is coming I won't bother.
So No I don't but Yes I would. I last used them in December for some Xmas CDs. The last DVD I bought from them was October. I would again if there was a DVD I wanted at a cheap price.
They really need to start selling BDs cheaply if they want to stay afloat.

they could help themselves by improving their supply issues.the huge threads on a few forums shows it is an issue although i'm sure Romero is getting his stuff from them a week or 2 early still

Nope not ordering much, last order only took 3 days from ordering to me getting it mind you, so they can at times do us good. They have never shipped anything pre release as far as I know.

Please note that this title does NOT include English subtitles. To be honest, the story is so simple that you don't need them - and let's face it, no one's watching this for the subtle plot nuances. Kicking butt works in any language!!

It's true, you really don't need subtitles.
In fact: when you're watching it with no subs, you can almost imagine that there's a decent plot in there.
But don't fool yourselves. There is no plot.
There is no word to describe how bad this film is. "Worse than Ong-Bak" is all I can come up with, and it's not strong enough.

UK R2 announced from Cine-asia:

I'll wait for the R1 DD.

Thanks but it's a Malaysian DVD so is bound to suck. I didn't spot that DVD Active link also says a BD is coming.
I didn't expect Cine-asia to get into BD so soon. I'll likely pick that up. I'm sure it will be easy enough to sell on.

Not on par with Tom Yum Goong but still quite a good film. If the final fight scene doesn't bring a bloody big smile on your face then you're too normal and you should be ashamed of yourself.
EDIT: the official site features some cute wallpapers in the download section.

Why does it only get a 6 for video? Supposedly it just looks 'unimpressive' in a few scenes, and most notably the 'fly-scene', but a 6 makes it look like it's barely watchable. It's in the right OAR and such, right!?

What crazy-assed world do you live in when 6/10 = "Barely watchable"?
6/10 = Good, slightly higher than average.

Nah, 6/10 I'd give to a very 'average' transfer, beneath the standard norm for DVD's.
If it's good but not spectacular, I'd give it at least a 7. I'd only drop below the 7 of there are real problems, or it's cropped, or the wrong aspect ration, or distorted colours, or pixelation, etc etc.
6/10 seems to indicate it's a bit 'poor'.
I'll probably wait for the Blu-ray anyway

yeah, Shing, didn't you know you're only supposed to use the highest third of the scale
