Imagine if other directors went back and added a notice on the faces of other charecters, it would ruin a bit of the wonder of who is who etc.. So I guess Ruins is a good word for it

I saw the Final Cut in the theater recently and can assure you that this is definitely not true. There are some scene where replicant's eyes glisten, including one where Deckards eyes glisten, but those eye glistening effect have alway been there in all versions of the movie including the original release.gasteropod wrote:I read that replicants' eyes glisten now or something, so surely that creates a continuity error due to that eye test they do and stuff?

Having watched the Final Cut last night, I'd be inclined to agree with darklight.darklight wrote:I saw the Final Cut in the theater recently and can assure you that this is definitely not true. If they have always been in there, show us pics
get out your old dvds and get snapping, I dont know the film as well as some of you so dont even own the dvd.
Ford was the main objector to being a replicant and never ever wanted his charecter to be one, hense the shouting matches etc, he got involved in with Ridley, would be strange if he wore contacts to get the glistning effect, he just would not have done it surley after all he has spoken about the subject. Unless he is a pansy and gave in after all

Thanks for posting the screencap. I am not at home these days and wont be for another week or so therefore I cant post screen grabs from the old DVD to prove that those glowing eyes have always been there. I will post them once I am home.
Another thing I don't think those effects were done using contact lenses. I think they are just lighting effect similar to the red eye you get when the eyes reflect the light of a flash when taking pictures.
Also, the way I have always understood that effect is that only we the audience see this. The characters in the movie can not see it otherwise there wouldn't be a need for the voight kampff test.

of course no problem. the article doesn't mention hd-dvd at all,the fact there is a large thread about the blu-ray glitch sounds like it's a blu-ray problem.i'm interested to hear where gasteropod read it affected the hd-dvd. last week warner's packaged a hd-dvd version of one of the harry potter movies in the blu-ray box set.they must have poor post-production checks.bradavon wrote:Thanks Salty.
It doesn't say the HD-DVD definitely doesn't have the problem either.
I cannot check mine until the Samsung arrives. If it's okay with you Salty could I send you my Disc 5 to check? That is unless I happen to get a Samsung early January.

Can anyone who has the Final Cut (any version) on BD or HD-DVD from the UK or USA confirm it has both TrueHD and DD5.1/DD Plus 5.1 please?
American reviews say both are included but UK reviews say it only has TrueHD. For those whose players output TrueHD in 2 Channel only this is a serious concern. Unlike DTS-HD there is no DD5.1 Core found in TrueHD!
I'd hate to watch Blade Runner: Final Cut in 2 Channel.

HD-DVD USA Review showing two English soundtracks: http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/1040/bla ... r_cce.html
UK Reviews mentioning no DD Plus is present: http://www.dvdtherapy.com/review_info.php?id=1778 and http://www.dvdactive.com/reviews/dvd/bl ... l-cut.html
Could it be a case of "Review copies" omitting it? Thanks.
EDIT: Reading reviews it seems Europe just got TrueHD but America TrueHD and DD5.1/DD Plus 5.1. Even the French and Swedish reviews over at DVD Basen just mention TrueHD.
Could this be an authoring error on the European discs (it's mentioned on the case), or just a case of review copies not getting a complete package?
