Are those specs current, LD?

I see no mention of an HD transfer or Cantonese mono.

Surely they've not made us wait THIS long for a Media Asia remix!?!

Well, it's not like the film's aren't related. All 3 are directed and choreographed by Yuen Woo-Ping afterall, so there's some merit to the boxset.

Remember City on Fire? That was announced without mention of Catonese mono and turned out to be a MA print.

The Premier Asia film crew spent a wonderful day yesterday as guests of the Baa Ram Ewe production staff in Bangkok, Thailand. For our forthcoming 2-Disc Special Edition DVD release, we filmed interviews with leading-man Tony Jaa, director Prachya Pinkaew, martial arts and stunt choreographer Phanna Rithikrai, co-lead Petchtai Wongkamlao and beautiful co-star, Bongkod Khongmalai.

I wonder how much they'll cut from this release, plus change the soundtrack again (not that TYG's soundtrack was as memorable as Ong-Bak's).

Unless you mean Luc Besson.
I know they changed the score.

Well HK DVD heaven are talking out of their ass I'm afraid, while the film has a new score it is NOT the Luc Besson cut of the film.
So technichally it is the "Thai Uncut version" with a different score.

It has a new score comissioned by PA but the actual film is uncut.

Let's make this simple:

Once upon a time (in a galaxy not so far away) there was an original Thai cut of Ong Bak.
It was a cool movie, with cool thai music and cool thai sound effects.

But then a greedy fat french bastard known as Luc Besson decided to buy the rights to that movie and turn it into a soulless action blockbuster to earn lots of cash.

He cut the drug scenes out of the movie and replaced the original thai music with french hip/hop à la Taxi 1 and 2. He also boosted the contrast levels to make it look cooler.

Then there was the R4 release of Ong Bak. With both the Luc Besson cut and the original thai version.

Then there was the crappy Premier Asia R2 release, with the original cut of the film. However, these stupid bastards decided to change the score because they felt it was weak.

There are now 3 versions of Ong Bak:
-Original Thai (R0 and R4).
-French cut / French music (R2FR and R4).
-Original Thai with Premier Asia music (R2UK).

Right.

The R4 Thai doesn't have any edge enhancement. That's why it looks a bit blurry.
It is still the only way to see this film properly.
