The Orphanage - 4.5/5
All around a superb thriller which covers all the bases - excellent writing, cinematography, editing and direction; with a driving and entirely convincing performance from the main actress.

The film's story was entirely straight-forwardly told. I find it baffling that someone wouldn't fully understand the film after one viewing; honestly those individuals would have to be pretty fucking thick.

A near Masterpiece! Even though the third act drags on a bit, its every bit as good as it claims to be. Great movie!

It did a good job tension-wise, and the score was quite unique. Bale's a madman for losing that much weight for the film, he's skinnier than me in it!

How much do you weigh? I wonder if I can beat you at 55.8Kg.

I don't know because we don't own any scales, but last time I checked (which was a while ago), it was 9 and a half stone. I find it impossible to gain weight, no matter what I eat!

I watched THE MACHINIST last night on TV.

Wierd, but interesting. Or interesting, but wierd. I was fairly engrossed throughout, although it's tough to watch someone mentally unravel for 2hrs. Bale's performance was amazing.

One question: Who switched on the machine that almost chewed up Bale's arm?

Yikes. I just realised how much Bale in the film looks like Brad in his avatar. Brad - go eat some fucking cheesecake and chips.

I thought it was that wierd "Ivan" guy, Bale's girlfriend's ex? I'm sure he features in it somewhere.

Entertaining and thought provoking film. Doesn't make you want to visit NY, though.
