The Dirty Harry series limps to a conclusion with this poor movie .nothing about this cheap effort feels like a Harry movie,as if in the absence of a proper script the makers used an old discarded thriller script and shoehorned Harry into it. Clint looks bored throughout and liam Neeson does not suit that shitty ponytail.

Batman Begins (Blu-ray) 4/5

Sporting the same encode as the hd-dvd this solid superhero film didn't impress as much on my second viewing. it's far too leisurely paced in the first hour, Liam Neeson exudes little menace as Ra's La Ghul and the action scenes are a little uneven. still,i enjoyed it, Bale makes a good Wayne/Batman, Oldman is good as Gordon and the climax is good.

Dark Knight prologue 3.5/5

Satisfying little 6 minute opener for the new movie looks great in hi-def.featuring a joker-inspired bank heist,it succeeds in whetting the appetite for the end of July.

I completely agree with Salty and Mr. Pod. The first hour definitely meanders too much. The villain is also weak. I suspect Dark Knight will be much better.

the imax prologue (which looked stunning in hi def) was in 1:85:1 so the new movie may not be scope like the first one,unless they opened it up.

like i said uneven.the car chase was excellent but the hand to hand combat fights pretty average imo.

They would have been much better if they'd had have been brutal and not cutting around dead fast. I don't know why they bothered training their special fighting techniques since we don't actually get to see them performing it lol

To create an illusion of superiority of course and to delay Mr. B appearing.

I actually meant the actors, they did a load of training for a specific fighting style, yet all we see in the film is them slightly moving whilst the camera cuts all over the place haha, anyone can do that.

Oh right, good point . Maybe is was cut, maybe not.

Good points:

Cast, including Bale as Batman and Caine as Alfred.
Scope, the most expansive Batman to date, and shot in widescreen
Serious intent, eschews camp, and doesnt take the piss.
Drama, the audience is invited to care about the characters
Stuntwork, chases and crashes are effective

Bad points:

Speechifying instead of naturally delivered realistic dialogue.
Crap shooting and editing of physical combat sequences
Overlength (and still it's 15 mins shorter than The Dark Knight!)
Weakly defined motive for main villain.
Lightweight Katie Holmes (now replaced).

In Bruges 3/5

Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson play two hitmen lying low in the belgian city of Bruges. I thought the first half of this was excellent,very funny & politically incorrect, 2nd half grows much darker in tone and loses it's way a little before rousing itself for the climax.Very enjoyable with good performances all round,well worth a rent at least

Its in my top few films of the year, I was shittin myself it was soo funny but I want a Blu Ray, sadly it does not seem it will be getting one anywhere.

I used to love Katie Holmes in Dawson's Creek (those eyes!) but today she's just lost it (I blame Cruise). She wasn't particularly good in Batman Begins. I suspect Maggie Gyllenhaal will be much better.

p.s - I'm sure a In Bruges BD will come.

Lol, you can't blame Tom Cruise for Holmes' weak performance in Batman Begins. The man's not the anti-christ, with evil hypnotic power over women. Face it, she's just not much of an actress.

Speed Racer - 1.5/5
A stupid children's film. I liked the 60's influenced production and wardrobe design, but that was about it. The CGI was absolutely dreadful.

Thankfully I didn't pay for it, I won a double pass.

Why? where does it say every film has to come to Blu Ray? it was a flop in america, so no chance and the UK well no signs of anything, same goes for other countries either.

Not every film will come to blu Ray, esspecially bad perfomrming films. Still it made more in the UK than america, so we have a better chance, but still slim as of yet. Even if it is pretty damn good.



Maggie Gyllenhaal is a hog compred to Katie. Maggie Gyllenhaal looks about 50 and them bags under her eyes and wrinkles make her look like a zombie. I really cannot see antyhing good looking in her at all. Why she got in a Batman film is beyond me, she muct have sucked off every cast member and crew member, as she looks like a crack ho.

I never said it would be coming any time soon . Universal own the rights, so it was obvious it wouln'td be getting a BD release yet, given that Universal have stacks of BDs to release and it flopped.

Given time the majority of films will be on BD, just like they are DVD today.

I was talking about her acting ability. Not that I think she's ugly, just not as attractive as Katie Holmes. If anything I'd say her build better suites the role than Holmes did.
