Michelle Yeoh takes flight with ‘Trainspotting’ helmer 29/07/05

Asian action queen Michelle Yeoh is set to play a female astronaut in ‘Trainspotting’ director Danny Boyle’s upcoming SF feature ‘Sunshine’. Casting is currently underway to find other Chinese performers to appear in the film. Cantopop idol Nicholas Tse, star of ‘Gen-X Cops’ and Chen Kaige’s forthcoming ‘The Promise’, was briefly in contention, but had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts. Yeoh will next be seen in the Hollywood-produced historical epic ‘Memoirs Of A Geisha’.

I don't get why he needs Asian actors so much (I guess we'll find out).

On the one hand I'm pleased Michelle Yeoh will be better known but it's a pity she's not making decent martial arts flicks anymore.

Well, the VHS release was missing some criminal instruction (ie. the lock-picking, car jimmying), weaponry (butterfly knife) and animal cruelty (real chickens run over by vehicles!). I can't remember the violence level so not sure whether it would be a '15' or '18' today. Isn't there hard drug use in this too? The weapon cuts will be certainly waived, possibly the instruction too, but the cruelty cuts will remain as they're still illegal.

Hopefully he delivers a great film of Infernal Affairs calibre; good filmmakers can usually tell compelling story despite cliches of their film's genre (again like IA).

Does the original Mandarin Mono soundtrack include the Bruce Lee war cries? If not I'll stick with the Cantonese DD5.1 (or maybe Mono).

Yes it does say Mandarin Mono Brad - or at least points to it - first it says "Digitally Enhanced Mono" and then it says "Original Mandarin Soundtrack".

The FS DVD had mandarin but it wasnt the mono track remastered at all. So maybe theyve got one over them.
