Actually, I can live without that detailed information. But since Luckystars is the one who brought up the idea of "penises being rubbed together" you might want to PM him your thoughts....

Got my copy of As Tears Go By today. It's codefree as mentioned by DDDHouse. Picture is pretty soft and English subtitles appear a bit too late for my taste. Took some screenshots for those interested in the PQ.

Yes it is Shing. Thanks for the info about DOBW.
OMG they're literally removed all the grain. I can create a similar effect on my PC. I don't need a so called professional outfit doing it :twisted:.
In the the small captures it looks ace but then you look at the full size ones and my god it looks awful. So soft, I wonder why? They've removed all the bloody detail. The tell tale signs are so obvious.
I've been experimenting with the DNR in Photoshop (Elements) lately and for the odd photo that is literally covered in it it helps but the vast majority of photos I've found it makes it look much worse. No Noise but equally no detail. It makes the photo look all processed and no longer real.

Definitely.
The UK Tartan SD DVD "box set version" is definitely still the best English friendly version (R3 Korean Remastered has no English subs). Annoyingly the separate release is still the Mandarin dub version:

Got my copies of the Australian release of House of Flying Daggers and Fearless yesterday... both are the French releases, which means for HOFD, it's the fully uncut version.
Only problem is - it's still got some fairly dodgy video quality, with that horrible telecine wobble still prevalent throughout.
On Ip Man, I'd love to get the Blu-ray, but it's way too expensive for my taste (and now apparently Region locked, which ends that option anyway).
Hopefully a Western distributor picks up the rights and releases it on Blu-ray too.

Don't all versions of HOFD have the telecine wobble, including the Japanese DVD? I cannot notice it. So HOFD AU is a port of the French BD? Surely Fearless would be a port of the UK BD?

Yeah the Aus HOFD IS the French HOFD, meaning fully uncut, and also french on the disc, and french menu options... (you can select English though, of course).
As for Fearless, looks like it's the same version World wide on Blu-ray actually, so yes probably a port of the UK BD as well.

Thanks. Actually I think the French BD has English (or French) menus too. I'd get the Aussie BD but it probably costs loads more than the UK BD and I'm happy with that, despite cuts.

Not sure about England, but didnt import-customs loosen up a whole lot since last fall!? Shouldnt cause any problems if it's under 100 pounds.
