Greetings everyone from rainy Thailand
I would like to yet again apoligize for my lack of posting, but i now have a secure private internet connection so i hope to be more active on BnB now.

Anyway, a few films i have recently watched..

Radio Star - 3.5/5
Very enjoyable new film from Lee joon-ik, now most famous for his record breaking "The King and the Clown". Great cast consisting of Park Joong-hoon, who i am a huge fan of. Likewise for Ahn Seong-gi, who is always awesome, and Choi Jeung-yoon is a cutie as usual. The film is about the realationship between ex rockstar and his long time manager. Pretty good story, but by the end it still felt like something was missing. Still very much recommended though.

Our Happy Time - 5/5
Wow, another GREAT film from Song Hae-sung, who is the director behind the masterpiece Failan. Although the film apears to be a romance on the outside, it really isn't. Its an extremely well put together story of two people in completly different situations who have given up on life, and re-discovering why life is worth living. HIGHLY recommended.

Forbidden Quest - 4/5
Hilarious, extremely witty film set in Chosun Korea about the hidden sexuality behind the ultra-conservitive society of the time. Han Suk-Kyu is great in this. Impressive debut from Kim Dae-woo, i look forward to seeing his next project.

Aegus - 2.5/5
Nothing really special i can say about this. Set on a Japanese battleship, it follows the "Die Hard scenario" except alot that is great about Die Hard isn't here. Has some good moments but overall very formulamatic and dull. As far as big-budget Japanese action films go, i liked Lorelei better.

Hanbando - 4/5
I really enjoyed this! I don't understand people who keep bashing this film. Sure its nationalistic, sure it may not be 100% historicaly accurate in reguards to the flashbacks and the historical documents in question...but its a very entertaining and well made film that i enjoyed thoroughly.

Ok i'm going to admit the horrible embarrasing truth, i have not seen the end of season 3 yet ..my lack of internet connection and being so busy has made me fall behind on both that and Lost...however my friend told me by e-mail that is was amazing.

I think the complete DVD-R season 3 is out now, i'll pick it up tonight for like $5

I just watched... Righteous Ties - 2/5
I've been really disipointed with Jang Jin recently. After the fairly entertaining romp "Guns and Talks" and the WONDERFUL "Someone Special"...i was looking forward to his next work. Unfortunetly, both "The Big Scene" and this one did not do it for me. They both have a few good moments, but are both overlong, and many things is the story does not make much sense at all.
I wish Jang (and Korean cinema in general) would stay away from the gangster/cop genre for a while.

Eraser - 3/5

Not among Arnie's best (Terminator, Total Recall etc), but worth a watch.

Spider-Man 3 - 3/5
Too much going on with too many characrters and subplots but atleast the acting and FX were still good. I enjoyed.

Absolutely marvelous.

This has got to have the most misleading trailer in the world. I reckon it even surpasses those fanmade mock trailers on youtube.

Hmmm. What's it about Bisc?
The trailer looked like hackneyed kiddie stuff about children finding a magical world and then protecting it from getting destroyed (or something like that). Sounded dull IMO.

I thought the same as you - I expected a rubbish Narnia ripoff. I wasn't even going to watch this until I read some positive reviews.

The trailer is horrendously misleading. It's not even a fantasy film. I reckon only 5% of the film has any CGI/fantasy elements.

It's a drama that deals with two bullied kids finding friendship. Very funny and touching I felt.

I reckon parents and children will be surprised to see this - expecting some cheap fantasy ripoff.

Bridge to Terabithia is an unexpected gem.

Fair enough. I'm intrigued, now.

Itchy Heart 3/5

Mostly standard rom/com from the versatile Matt Chow that has an ace up its sleeve in the form of Lau Ching-Wan and Carina Lau. Both bring fine star power and it all represents one of Ching-Wan's sole good comedies of later years.

Hidden (Caché) - 4.25 - 4.5/5

An excellent film (almost 4.5/5). The performances are excellent, whats interesting is there is absolutely no score/soundtrack whatsoever in the film. Very good thriller, that I think also comments about the problems France has (eg racism).
It's ambiguous in places - by the end of the film we still don't know Who is sending the tapes

Maybe it is Majid's son who is trying to get at Georges for what he did to his dad when he was a boy? As Georges went to Majid and he said he didnt do it. However, both boys were 6, why would the son do something now?

Pan's Labyrinth - 4.25/5
Wonderful film. Totally glad that Hollywood had no involvement in the project.
Felt like a bit like Total Recall - Was it all real or a coping mechanism to escape the horrible reality?

Usually the people who give you money for your movie, want to have a say in the matter of the script.

and as most Holywood films get their cash from Germany, the Germans run Hollywood anyway. For some reason people dont seem to want to know, hell even the Lord of the Rings triogy had German financing haha.

Was there supposed to be a plot here? Who knows, I watched the raws. There was over-the-top violence with heaps of red sauce, some ecchi stuff with lots of white sauce and that's about it. Why is this crappy OVA highly regarded in the animu community? I'm definitely gonna avoid KITE after watching this garbage.

You watched it without subs? Not questioning your opinion on the show, but surely there are easily available fansubs of this bugger floating about?

Armour of God II: Operation Condor - 4.25/5

Seemed a bit long in places (maybe 90 minutes would have been about right) but still lots of fun. Really enjoyed it

Ya, couldn't find any. Not that I really needed them, got the gist of what little plot there was from watching the action.
