Mildly entertaining, some decent action, lots of plot twists, but nothing that really engaged me or made me more interested.

all HK fans know the piece The Big Gundown, which is not from Good, the Bad... I believe.

Golden Queen's is FILLED with this stuff. Not an original thought anywhere. FUCKING AWESOME! Brigitte Lin with a wooly hat, an eye patch and Elsa Yeung as the punkrocker of the group...all set in the 1940s!

So look back at my original post and you'll see why Chu is who he is.

Unless mine ears are decieving me, that's The Ecstasy of Gold (L'estasi dell'oro) from Good, Bad, Ugly. Used to fantastic effect in probably my favourite moment of the film.

That's not the theme to The Big Gundown.

Pretty good movie, very cool stunts, and the story is good. Bit of a slow burner in the beginning, the Mayan Kingdom is very impressive.

Indeed it is, used in the standoff scene in the graveyard.
But The Big Gundown is used over the top of an MIHK trailer - Moon Warriors I believe - and it works so well.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Volume 4 (Overall) - 3.5 - 4/5

I enjoyed watching these The "Cowabunga Shredhead" episode (where Shredder thinks he is Michaelangelo) is hilarious
I also liked "Take Me To Your Leader" "Four Muskerturtles" "Green With Jealousy" and "Casey Jones" (if only for his Clint Eastwood impersination).

Spider-man 3 - 3/5

Maybe it isn't quite as good as the 1st and 2nd movie, but still immensely enjoyable. Venom was a bit of an after-thought too, but the rest of it was good. I loved the "emo parker" stuff, especially all the scenes where he is trying to be cool. LMFAO!

Deja Vu 4/5

This has seemingly passed under the radar with very little fanfare, but it's definitely Tony Scott's best movie in a while (wiping away the memory of the awful Domino). Denzel Washington is as good here as he was in the excellent Man On Fire, giving a performance that has charisma but also vulnerabilty. I found the plot to be very engrossing, but just don't think too much about the time travel stuff (as you'll probably pick a lot of holes, as with most time bending movies). I would definitely urge anyone who doesn't know much about this film to check it out.

I've kinda given up on Tony Scott (not seen his last two admittedly).

Tony Scott used to make fuckin' cool movies like The Last Boy Scout, Revenge and True Romance.

Like Oliver Stone he's well past his best.

Well, I still look forward to when he has a new movie out. Maybe this isn't up there with his classics from the 80s and early 90s, but I'd put it alongside the likes of Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State.

Is there a DVD of this film or only VCD?

Xenon, Arena or whatever they're called, released the film as Jackie Chan's Crime Force. No JC in the film aside from in the Sally Yeh music video that is shown before the film. No connection TO the actual film. I saw the rare Japanese tape that is in 1.85 (cropped from 2.35 but no other widescreen options seems to exist) and it's the best viewing option if you can find it (youtube clip is from the tape).

And I may be praising Chu way too much but his kind of incompetence and blatant rip-off's does seem to come from some kind of heart. Some kind of sincerity. Heck, at least it's not Turkish Star Wars! Now that's incompetence![/quote]

The Last Seduction - 4/5

Very good movie. Linda Florientino excels as a manipulative, ice-cold villain, and Bill Pullman is good too.
I felt sorry for the Peter Berg character really.
