I imagine it will be their own disc, instead of a copy of Universal's.

A BD with all three cuts is obviously the best option. I think the US DVDs contain dubtitles though.

I've only seen the UK theatrical cut (proper subs) aka Unrated and was very happy with the film.

Not sure I'd want it to be 40 mins longer.

The Director's Cut is a far better movie - has better pacing than the theatrical cut imho... and the action is spread throughout rather than being in clumps (I thought the theatrical cut was very uneven).

But is there 40 mins worth of additional story? Or is it the same story padded out? The amount of self-indulgence among directors these days is a concern to me. I don't subscribe to the more is more or longer is greater school of film criticism.

I agree though that many films are way, way longer than they need to be. Quantum of Solace is an unusual 104 minutes.

I've never seen any Theatrical Cut and haven't seen The Director's Cut fully to say for sure.

I think the main additional scenes are when Huo Yuan Jia is in the Village "recovering"... there's an additional fight that was only in the Thai cut, and a few of the scenes are moved to different parts of the movie (I can't remember the specifics, but the start of the theatrical cut isn't seen until much later in the director's cut).

I too am not always a fan of "extended" or "director's" cuts... however the Director's Cut is the only version of Fearless I'll watch now. It took the movie from being a good movie, to a great movie... up there with some of the best "epic" martial arts movies I've seen.

Edit: Just read the review posted above - yup, I agree with the reviewer there - I didn't feel much for the HYJ character in the theatrical cut, but in the director's cut you really do get to understand the character.

I cannot find it at Yes Asia and it's 610HKD/£51.11 from DDDHouse. Which is a fortune and of course not customs safe.

How are the subs? The UK DVD had decent subs whilst the R1 had SDH dubtitles.

i'm no subtitle expert but they seemed fine to me.will check them against the region 3 version.

The UK BD will be a port of the USA one, so lets hope they're fine.

Sam, I'm talking about the International aka Unrated version of the film. The US DVD had dubtitles, the UK release subtitles.

I'd wait until both Chungking BDs are released and we've got comparisons. Criterion may've fucked with the colours.

I am mainly waiting as the Criterion is as expected expensive and the UK BD is probably going to be cheaper. That and it would be nice to have matching CE/AOTR covers.
