Agree Brown can't really do public speaking, he has a really dreary voice :D

anyway where in that article is it proven Britain is on it's knees?
That was one just one article that showed one dangerous aspect of what Labour has done (ie. the errosion of civil liberties). Do some of your own research if you want to know more.
Surely you can only take things as you find them.I'm lucky and maybe i sleepwalk but i do not see a country "on it's knees". All i know that currently i have a low mortgage that's just over 2 years from being paid up in full, a decent salary,i can afford to take my wife on a 2 week foreign holiday each year,i have a decent disposable income.Under the last Tory government i was working an 80 hour week on security for £1.15 an hour having recently got married.Armed robbers were getting security jobs to case joints as the pay was so low there were no checks done.Of course since big bad Labour regulated the industry a similar scenario is unlikely (not impossible but unlikely) to happen too often.Maybe my view smacks of "i'm all right jack" far from it,i don't believe my job is particularly secure but sorry,i don't see a country on it's knees". Labour gets stick on immigration for example but the last time the tories were in they crippled the fishing and farming industries.... killed off the shipyards, the steel industry and the mining industry...and scrapped most of the apprenticeship schemes so that we have to accept more foreign workers...

Some people just feel happier, when they think the country they live in has gone to the dogs. "On it's knees", talk about a massive exaggeration.

I guess you forgot about the gigantic debt they are going to be forcing on us all then in the future, a few Trillion to get from us in Tax etc.. that is what I call a country on its knees, and will be for the next 20 years.

That's not all Gordon's fault, the recession is worldwide remember, and under the Tories I'm sure we had boom and bust.

Its over and done, it does not matter who's fault it is, but it was the current government fault 100% - they saw it was going on, they ignored it when they could have changed it, so yes it is 100% Gordons boys fault as they were in power.

Not that it matters, as whoever we vote in is stuffed from the word go, to much cash to pay off and no way except tax to get it back. As they do not have the balls to do what is needed (scum dole crawlers stop them now), so Tax will come out front for the working man.

No a country on it's knees is Britain during the two world wars. This is troubled times. You really have no ability for perspective, do you Romero. Everything is either bloody fantastic or as bad it's possible to EVER get.

What the hell are you on about  that is history so old it is pointless even writing it. We may as well talk about the Romans, and the Dark Ages while you are at it then :notworthy:

I've been paying tax,vat etc since i can ever remember. you Romero,as proven many times are totally and utterly cash-obsessed. i suspect you disagree with paying any form of tax full stop. I'm atill waiting for this evidence that the country's on it's knees.it's far from utopia but as Brad says talk about exaggeration

Not even close. Fair tax I believe in, the way they are now going to tax us to get their debts back will be insane.

Romero, the statement "on it's knees" suggests to me a skint nation, one where it's inhabitants are feeding on scraps, skint etc. You seem to have plenty of disposable income to spend on blu-rays,photography,cinema going, concert going, running a car etc...so you for one certainly aren't doing badly and you are far from on your knees.

Of course it isn't. You said "country on it's knees", when I clearly showed, it really isn't.

A young woman committed suicide this week because she had been unemployed for two years despite A level qualifications. So, yeah, I guess it does depend on what side of the grass you're on.

I Read that story-very sad.But there were millions unemployed 3 decades ago, there is today. That's not going to change whoever gets in power. With new technology fast doing away with the need for workers (There's a small Tesco near me with one member of staff on checkout and 4 auto-machine tills) it's doubtful it'll improve any time soon. Are you doing ok personally Mark or have you been brought to your knees by this government?Surely you can accept you've exaggerated?

The last decade has been tough. I won't lie. I believed all that bullshit about studying hard and getting your just rewards. That's only true for some. The ironic part is that Labour dominant areas are among the worst affected for job deprevation. I look around my city and it's depressing. Not that the SNP has made a difference. All they care about is shortbread and fucking Braveheart. It's well known that unemployment figures are massaged with multiple schemes and initiatives invented to cut the numbers signing on.

You'd get that bullshit from any party, whoever's in power. They'll all tell you what you want to hear. However there is hope.i had shitty, crappily paid jobs till i was 30 before i managed to get into the railway industry.i have little in the way of qualifications,an english o-level and a few cse's.
Markgway wrote:The ironic part is that Labour dominant areas are among the worst affected for job deprevation.
I tend to find that job blackspots are the same areas decade in decade out. .
Markgway wrote:It's well known that unemployment figures are massaged with multiple schemes and initiatives invented to cut the numbers signing on.
Agreed, but when Cameron gets in in 2 weeks expect these type of schemes to multiply.

What's the job, have you ever held down a job and have they ever forced you on these training schemes?

I've never had a paid job before (yet) but have done/am doing voluntary work etc, I once went on something called ENHAM some years ago, it was very tiring and I learnt what a work routine was like, apart from that not much TBH.
The job is a front of house/kiosk job in our local theatre/playhouse in the town.

Good luck with the interview. My son had one the other day,for a janitor's job, unfortunately they wanted someone with experience so he's unlikely to get it.

Doesn't matter what the job is they want experience. Never mind that you can't get experience unless someone takes a chance on you in the first place. Vicious circle.

Maybe the upcoming Tory government will be crap. If so I'll be the first one to bitch and complain. I'm really no Tory fanboy. I just see a glimmer of hope is all. Only a glimmer mind.

Finally got around to watching Thursday's debate (I recorded it to watch the football). For me Cameron came out on top this time. A more assured performance. I liked what he had to say. Clegg slipped a little (more in terms of content than presentation) and Brown was marginally better than before.
