Are those grabs from the r2j or r3hk? Is the film any good? I seem to recall umming & ahhing over buying the r3hk DVD a while back

R2J. I've seen it a few times without subs. I got not-so-great quality fansubs later, started timing them, then the HK disv was released and thought it must have better translation so I convinced my friend to buy it and ripped the subs. But I haven't timed them for my R2J yet. I took a quick look at the HK disc and it seemed like the timings wouldn't meet my standards (since I have to burn a new dvd after the subbing, I want it to be as good as it can be) and I would gave to do further re-timing for the R2J and I never got into doing it... So, subbing this disc has been in process for a year and a half now...

And the movie. I don't know. I love everything that has Aya in it :drunken:

You learning Japanese or something then Hung? You seeem to watch a lot of r2j DVDs without subtitles. I wouldn't mind taking lessons myself, i've learned enough from watching Japanese films over the years to be able to get a very basic idea of what's being said onscreen (and I can pick up on accents and the occassional subtitle error & whatnot), but I doubt I could follow a film at all without Eng subs.

I tried to watch a DVD-Rip of Install but I gave up after a few minutes, because of a weird glitch in the transfer (some kind of blue flash that appears whenever there's movement).

I'll have to give it another go someday.

No, I really can't understand that much. But understanding is over-rated anyway

No, seriously. You just have to choose the right movies. Like yesterday I watched Dragon Princess. Lots of cool karate scenes,
nice visuals, very simple story, 80 min running time, Sonny Chiba, Etsuko Shihomi, Yasukaki Kurata, that guy Sonny fight in
every other film (don't know his name)... very easy to enjoy without subs. Same with Truck Yaro 5. Basically every single scene
includes either good music, action, physical comedy, pretty girls or something else like that. With simple plot and good
acting even drama can become touching when acted well. You understand the basics usually (young lovers have to break up
because the director cuts to an angry old man living in the same house as our main character every 10 minutes... you know
exactly what is going on) (that was an imaginary example btw). Or take Teruo Ishii's Porno Jidaigeki - Bohachi Bushido. Jaw
dropping swordfights, psychedelic characters, stunning visuals, female assassins with swords, ninja battles, epic ending...
I really feel sorry for people who think they can't enjoy those films without subs. In the end, how much do plot and dialogue
matter in a karate or exploitation film?

There's so many movies everyone should be able to enjoy even without subs. Install is not one of those It's very
dialogue driven film. But I enjoyed it of course. Cuteness needs no translation.

She's great. I've got all her albums (the first two are the best). Much better than that over-rated Hamasaki.

Yeah I can see why you can sit through anything driven mostly by its visuals without subs and still enjoy it, but sometimes I come across people who have bought long character dramas with tonnes of dialogue and I just think they're nuts for buying an unsubbed DVD of them. Of course, there are also a lot of arty Japanese character dramas that have very little dialogue as well.

I guess if you weren't such a huge Aya Ueto fan I'd consider you nuts for buying the r2j DVD of Install but considering the number of photos you've posted in this thread, it makes sense!

Have you gotten a subscript for it yet? If I ever buy the r3hk DVD I'll sort you out with one if you want.

I just finished Tsubasa no oreta tenshitachi subs today. It was much more work than I expected. The fansubs were
probably made for TV rip that had commercials edited out, because the subs kept falling out of sync. I'm sure the rip
had an additional second or two (probably sloppy editing with the commercials or something) here and there.
In the end I split the script into 7 pieces, gave each of them the correct starting and ending points (that will about
fix the lines in between), then put all the files back together and fix the rest line by line. Now they're up to my standars.

I'm trying to watch another DVD-Rip but it's driving me nuts.

There's some kind of weird convergence problem that appears once every fifth frame:
