After Golden Gun is Spy Who Loved Me, which recieved a Dolby 5.1 re-mix on its original DVD along with Thunderball. To the best of my knowledge, Spy did not get a six-track stereo release, though it may have been in standard Dolby in theatres. The next film was Moonraker, which had a 70mm release in six-track as did all the Bonds made after it in the 80's. The old DVDs gave 5.1 audio - which is more-or-less the digital version of six track stereo - to all the post-Spy Who Loved Me films with the curious exception of Octopussy, which got Dolby Surround, despite the fact a six-track stereo master was made and used.

Incidentally, I recall reading a few years back that You Only Twice and The Man With The Golden Gun had experimental 70mm releases in Japan but I don't know if that's true or not.

Hehe I don't really want to part with it and replace it with something which may not be that much better , no one has seen what the new transfers are like now have they .

I have the Tin aswell so its not a selection of titles

I would be interesting to see which cut of Goldeneye appears in R1 as there supposedly submitted the print prior to the one that they ended up with, or I may have misread it.

No no one has seen the new transfers but they're going through the Lowry Digital process or something, getting cleaned up frame by frame so should look good.

Thats true Grim but with the latest batch of "Ultimate Edition" DVD's from MGM/Sony the results don't look that stunning, fair enough they probably weren't done by Lowry Digital but the difference dont seem that big, SOTL UE looks no diff to the SE from what I have seen.

The Rocky set looked overall better though.

As you say yourself MLAM those only had essentially upped bitrates these will look much better (in case of the old films anyway).

Of course I can't say for sure but going by past Sony UE DVDs ("Magnificent Seven" for example) they tend to retain Mono/Stereo and lose DTS.

The difference looks very good, I'm not sure if I'll just upgrade the DVDs I have or buy more though (ie, buy the films I dont have).

I'm very tempted to put my GE, TND and TWINE up on eBay now. Hmm two of them are Region 1 though which may not sell so well.

Pity there's no BOGOF offer like they did for the first releases. You'd think as these are reissues and most fans have already got the films they would repeat the insentive? I've seen the current editions sold as cheap as a fiver.

Selling Bond films on Ebay is almost imposible you may get a few pound for them, if your lucky. Sadly wayyy to many seem to be on Ebay. I dont know what to do with mine, even if I do have a rare one in silver packaging that uised to be worth about 40 quiid sadly I wish I sold it back then as I might get 4 pound now.

I'd prefer £3-4 x3 so £9-12 than 3 DVDs I'll never watch again. £10 is better than nothing.

I'm sure you'll disagree but I much prefer to kid rid than have clutter around my house. I "maybe" able to trade them.

I love getting rid of dvds I wont watch, its never as simple as that. I have tonnes of dvds noone wants at all.

This is all so confusing and full of contradictions.

We have it confirmed only "some" are getting a 5.1 remix and even have the titles listed which are getting a 5.1 remix BUT now we're told ALL are getting a 5.1 remix???

I'm inclined to believe DVD Times as they're usually right. I'll wait until I can compare the old and new DVDs for myself.

I've heard that Dr No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger will NOT be getting a 5.1 Remix as the masters are all lost so its not possible but we won't know until they come out i guess.

I suppose you never saw the hot air balloon crash sequence at the beginning of Enduring Love then? Changing Lanes is also a well-made little drama/thriller with a pace similar to modern action films. The less said about Notting Hill, the better. (TEH MOST SUCCESSFUL BRITISH FILM OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111 )
