Take a risk! Is it not worth it for the sake of the price of one DVD? Then you'll know for the future...

I was kidding dude about the headbutt, but Raimi has confirmed that a DC DVD will be coming.

Official confirmation of villains, not like anyone was surprised.
Raimi finally (and rather anti-climatically) confirmed that the new villains in the film are indeed Sandman and Venom, and that James Franco's vengeful Harry Osborn will not be playing either the new Green Goblin or Hobgoblin in the movie.
Contains minor spoilers, most of which are familiar/predictable to those who've read comic/watched the 90's cartoon.
Raimi debuted never-before-seen footage from Spider-Man 3, although a good amount of it was unfinished. CG animatics were in place of final special effects sequences in certain places but the rough nature of the footage did nothing to deter the responses from the thousands of fans that saw it.

The footage, which was was cut as a trailer, begins with Peter Parker looking at his reflection in a mirror and then slowly revealing the new black Spidey costume underneath his street clothes. "All will be lost," we are told before we find Topher Grace's Eddie Brock praying in a church. And what is he asking of God? Why, to kill Peter Parker, of course!

The rest of the footage included battle sequences between Sandman and the police, as well as between Harry and Spidey. There are shots of love interests Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy, as well as shots of both Peter Parker and Eddie Brock becoming overwhelmed at different points by the black symbiote suit.
The trailer ends with the "money shot": the first look at the CG-animated Venom in all his vicious glory!

Fan reaction to this exclusive peek at Venom was through the roof. (Sadly, the panel only showed the new footage once.) Many of these wildly enthusiastic reactions were articulated during the Q&A session with Raimi and company that followed.

Odd. He's wearing Goblin armour and holding a pumpkin bomb here.

BTW the Wikipedia entry is filled with minor spoilers, mainly from the Comic-Con trailer.

Yeah in the comics, Harry becomes Hobgoblin, not the Green Goblin. So maybe they have changed that in them movie

Where does the Hobgoblin come from? In the 90's cartoon the Hobgoblin/Green Goblin are different villains, in the episode when Spidey sees the Green Goblin for the first time he says "You're not the Hobgoblin".

I think it is:

Green Goblin = Harry Father
Hobgoblin = Harry

I thought that the Hobgoblin was just some burglar who finds Norman Osbourne's old hideout with all his Green Goblin gadgets (like the glider, pumpkin bombs, etc)?

Ohh that rings a bell as well, checking Wikipedia,
James Franco
Harry Osborn on a glider.

Harry Osborn on a glider.

At one time, the filmography on James Franco's official website [5], James Franco's character, Harry Osborn, is stated to be the second Green Goblin (a.k.a. Green Goblin II). That has since been removed. Harry Osborn becomes Green Goblin II in most comic book adaptations in which he is featured, although he was the Hobgoblin in the Ultimate Spider-Man adaptation. The first Green Goblin, played by Willem Dafoe, was the villain in the first movie and was also the father of Franco's character.
Ahhh okay, so he was Hobgoblin in Ultimate Spiderman, so yeah you are right Eva.

Nah, it's Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) being transformed into Venom by the symbiote. Notice the sharp teeth.

Oh yeah thats right. I thought that was Tobey at first.

Apparently, according to this trailer I found on Youtube, Cap America will be in this new Spiderman movie...

Does seem to have a slightly lower budget then the first 2 movies though...

I saw a wee clip from Spiderman 3 (or maybe it was the teaser, probably the teaser) on Film 2006 today, it showed Spidey in the black suit 8)
The suit still looked wrong though, the Venom suit is NOT just a black version of Spidey's suit :? Maybe the makers thought that since the symbiote blends with his old suit it just turns black :?

Get over it and enjoy the film when it comes. My friend is still hung up over X-men film costume changes to a generic uniforms and Spidey's webbing becoming a part of his mutation (there were originally a substance that Parker invented and has to manufacture, which are shot from mechanical shooters on his wrists).

I didn't mind the change of the outfits changing for the X-Men films (cos they look really garish: works on the page, but anyone wearing the Wolverine outfit would come off as nothing but homosexual), but Venom's design just looks pimp; why mess with that?

I think these kind of movies would all just work much better when they'd be done in animation/CGI. That way the fans of the comics will not have to make that jump from artistically designed characters from the pages, to actors (often b-actors) trying to mimmick those comicbook characters onscreen.

These have to sell to a wide mainstream audience, which is much much bigger than the niche comic reading audience.

The good deal of the mainstream audience would probably be put off if the the films were entirely in CGI and would probably just write them off as kiddy films.
