Wow! I was really impressed. Also by Sly´s acting at some points. The movie also managed to take a stand on the current problems the box sport has.
All in all a great movie.
I really hated the fact that most people in the cinema were to stupid to understand it and complain about "silly dialogues" or laughed at scenes, when I was close to start crying (Stallone´s most dramatic scene...). It´s very sad that people won´t accept an action star like Stallone doing some serious acting...

The absolute "non-popcorn-movie". You shouldn´t watch it if you get bored easily...

Really? Over here they all applauded when the credits started rolling. I've been to see it twice now and both times the audience applauded. A friend of mine went to see it on Monday and he told me that the audience applauded as well.

Happens like... never over here, only if there is a premier or a film festival.

Regarding Hapkido, I thought the fights were great (I believe Sammo did the choreography). Some aspects of the film reminded me of "Fist of Fury" (the Chinese v Japanese aspect) and some of the dojo scenes and fights were similar to those in Fist of Fury too in terms of how they were shot or how they sounded, with the bone snaps/neck breaks etc, and one bit where Whang In Sik goes unarmed against a Katana.
Wasn't Angela Mao marketed as a female Bruce Lee at one point?

THE DEPARTED - 4/5
Though I liked this movie a whole lot I must say that in the end I still prefer INFERNAL AFFAIRS. I'm not just saying that because I'm Asian or anything like that. I just kinda felt that TD wasn't as deep as IA in that in IA we had a buddhist theme that took the movie to another level. But still I enjoyed TD, which is probably the best film of last year.

Was a live-action TV series that moved into a couple of feature length specials and then finally into films. The TV show was an original production, so therewas no Anime/Manga series.

The Killer's Love 1.5/5

While Simon Yam has fun mixing an assassin character with his gigolo one, his pairing with Carol Cheng is lacking. The latter dones her usual persona to little effect and director Jamie Luk also adds desperate attempts to get noticed via sadistic violence and an excursion to Fight Back To School territory.

Gambling Soul 2/5

Ching Gong had better days at Shaw Brother's. Formulaic gambling movie that possibly resembles Gambling Ghost way too much. Little inspired behaviour in this one, despite the multiple movies in one (action, comedy, ghosts, gambling).

Yeah, this film is really one that makes you want to stand up and cheer. I exactly had this feeling and was really shocked by the way the rest of the audience reacted to the film. I guess they expected to see an action film and not a boxer-drama, which Rocky Balboa in fact is. Well, what shall I say about such ignorant people? I´m happy I liked it and probably I´ll also go and watch it again. As long as people whisper their comments and I still can concentrate on the movie, I don´t care, although I think that RB has deserved applause instead of critique.

But I´m happy to hear that out there, for example in Cologne, people react to this movie the way it should be.

Damn! Watched it for the third time now. This time with my little brother and sister. They loved it and I didn't find it any less awesome.

Am I the only who thinks seeing a film multiple times at the cinema is retarded, especially with the high ticket prices these days?

Maybe tickets are cheap in Germany?

In the UK they're outrageous.

Two tickets would equal the price of a new DVD in four months.

Rubbish. It didn't even feel as stylish, impresive or big budget as the original.

American Psycho - 4/5
Finally seen it! Rather good but it really should have been longer, the plot didn't have enough time to develop at all. By the time it really starts to get interesting beyond dialogue it rushes to conclusion too quickly. The acting and direction were excellent so it really could have tried for more. Still, good film.

Can only recommend it if you've alreadys een the series. If you have it's hilarious and surprisingly umambitious for a movie based off a TV series. It's just more of the same goodness but widescreen.

No, no and no !!

I was hoping for a well-shot high-budget japanese remake of Deep Impact with lots of CGI and stuff, but no.

It's shot like a documentary, always explaining what's going on to the viewer (who couldn't care less, 'cause it's too complicated anyway).

+ : The cinematography is awesome, but that's hardly surprising. The guy who did this movie is the one who storyboarded Casshern.
+ : Some of the big SFX shots look good.

- : Too much techno-babble.
- : The drama scenes have a tendency to destroy the pace of the film (this only has to do with the way these scenes are shot, the actors themselves are quite good).
- : So many inaccuracies... it's actually painful to watch (In the first scene, a guy wakes up in his broken car. The whole city block is on fire, spreading flames, smoke and ash. He's groaning because his arm is hurt, but he isn't coughing... have you ever tried to breathe in the middle of a fire ?).

This film is a big-budget playground for a crew that doesn't know what they're doing.

Didn't like it. Won't buy the DVD.

Very good movie. Much better than I expected. My only complaints: too violent, excessive use of the "F" word, Jack's penis, and the blending of Sammi Cheng, Kelly Chen and Elva Hsiao into 1 character. Other than that, great movie.

Most of the early Golden Harvest releases were a bit wooden to be honest... some better than others.

I preferred WHEN TAE KWON DO STRIKES for example.

I haven't seen that.. will see if I can check it out

The HKL subs were a bit silly at times ("Hapkido? More like Crap-ki-do!" etc ) and I thought the ending was a bit abrupt (I thought anyone who commited a crime/killed people must be killed as well?)
