...and why would we want to do that? As good as DVD-Basen is, it is still hosted by a certain asshole.

I just got the Ace Ventura collection so if anyone wants to make a comparison with me between the new transfers and the previous ones I'm all up for it.

Our comparisons are too idiosyncratic to be recorded as reference.
I always assumed they were just rough guides for us (and anyone who happens by).

Hey,
Can compare R2 Dumbo (SE) with the R1 "Big Top" Edition?

I just looked at DVD Compare - it seems to compare all the regions - R2 "SE" looks pathetic in comparison to the recent R1. R1 wins 8)

200 comparisons in the database.
And the latest DVD-Beaver comparison (The Searchers) contains screencaps made with a digital camera.
That's what I call "digging your own grave and burying yourself in it".
Ours is the best DVD Comparison forum ever.

I hope to add a Love & Pop comparison soon. R1 vs. R2J vs. R2JSE but I'm having a bit of hassle comparing cuts and presenting them at the same size.

A digital camera classic

, it gets worse, from the comparison:
"We will make the assumption that the Blu-ray DVD of The Searchers, has the same color scheme, framing and supplements as the HD-DVD."
Right okay it's always wise to assume

Looking forward to that. But since the orig. R2J is the only anamorphic disc I'll be keeping that and hoping the new edition isn't a big improvement in other areas

If Lourdes is keen, we'll do a Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door comparison.

Anyone have Mei Ah's remaster of Jet Li's The Hitman?
I'd like to compare it to the dubtitled and mono(!) HKL.

Thanks

Are the subtitles the same? They seem about the same extras wise as well.

Could anyone post a few Death Trance R1 caps?

I'll do Love & Pop some other time, I'll need to re-rip all three DVD's to my PC. With just the m2v's it's impossible to check times and compare cuts. Not to mention the hassle of cropping & enlarging.

Great !
Could you post a few 1024x576 pics in a dedicated thread, please ?
I really want to know whether it's my DVD that's screwed-up.
Thanks.
