I also think (later) DVD menu presentation and stuff was better than BD presentation now, with more imagination put into things like packaging (digibooks and steelbooks seem to be the thing now), cover art in general music and menus - how times change I'm just thinking back to some of my old HKL DVDs, they were great Even Hollywood releases had features on them that arent carried over (eg Ghostbusters).

But seriously, we are at the end of an era. Most people seem not to care, as convience is now the priority over ownerhip of an actual product.

Some of my fondest memories as a kid and a youngster was scowering the dingy video stores for gems. No internet, so you went by cover art and hear-say.... those were the days.

I have some fond memories now of going through hundreds to thousands of DVD/BDs and find a used copy of an OOP Criterion or R0 Hong Kong film that I wonder how it got there.

Streaming is not always convenient. Like if you work through a TV series on Netflix only to find they take it off before you finish it. Or you need to have several services to get a range of films. I know, most people only seem to care about the latest films. I think the difference with us is that we do not this of these films as disposable commodities.

I remember renting VHS when I was a kid (and older)... Downloading just won't be the same

I have many, many, many, many fond memories of browsing video rental stores as a kid longing after horror tapes I was far, far, far, far too young to rent.

It was thanks to video rental I first discovered HK movies on the 'MIHK' label, their trailers opened up a world of mystery that always made you think "What's this?" at the time.

Hell yeah, one of my local VHS stores had a deal one where you could rent 7 films for 7 days for £5 so me and my mate would put £2.50 each and then go round his for a film marathon every saturday afternoon. Them were the days! I think we rented every single horror tape they had!

I went to visit some jailbird pals back in the day, and no... it does not seem enviable. Only ever made it to the drunk tank myself. Though it came to ten times total before I learned not to pass out in the street or provoke cops, when hammered. Ah, the follies of youth.

My mum got some new back windows fitted yesterday....looks like the workers have helped themselves to around 15-20 of my brother's blu-rays and £60 out of a wallet a reputable company as well so not some dodgy work for hires (you'd have thought) unbelievable

If the company is indeed reputable they will take it seriously.

Yep,police involved and company told.of course their staff are denying it.they are (i thought) a reputable company,being going for donkeys years and installed my new windows about 4 years ago.

I'm sure once the culprit is found you'll be reimbursed.
