Some great gags but I prefer Security Unlimited.

Gone With The Wind - Part Two: 5/5
What a terrific, moving, well acted film. And what an ending!
If I have any criticism its perhaps there is too much tragedy in the last act, Scarletts daughter dies, then her friend Melanie, then Rhett leaves her etc... and how are we supposed to view the "Tomorrow is another day" ending? So Scarlett has the land at Tara, so what? She has lost her friend, daughter, husband.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

Fucking brutal! R. Lee Ermey was great. My favourite character of the new TCM series.

hey,
Hidden Desire 1/5
The first on Veronica Yip's Category III path that eventually led to acclaim as a dramatic actress. Supporting role here in what really is a montage of attempted high class erotica, punctuated by an excruciating rape finale. Thanks, Charlie Cho.

From Dusk Til Dawn - 4/5
This film started like this and ended like THAT?

Great fun.
Snappy Tarantino dialogue (great show by Clooney) and the 2nd half is a gloriously OTT Rodriguez splatter-fest
Juliette Lewis is annoying though.

FerriS Bullers Day Off 2.5/5
well, it was entertaining in parts , but iwas pretty bored with it by the end, the chairs in class didnt help as they were mega uncomfy, i didnt really like mathew broderick, but i did like the guy who played cameron, Alan Ruck, for me he was more realistic. Broderick just got on my nerves by the end of it, besides im annoyed cuz i'd juyst never gt away with pullign a stunt liek that! the day off school sure, done it loads of times, but not going out like he did lol.

If that would have been the first Kitano movie I ever saw, I might not have understood it.
What a great movie! Kitano = genius, Joe Hisaishi = genius
A masterpiece

Banlieue 13 (District B13) : 5/5
I didn't know french movies could be so much fun !
This is what Ong-Bak and Tom Yum-Goong should have been like.

A Chinese Ghost Story 2: 3,75/5
Not as good as the first one, but quite fun anyway.
Recommended for those who like crazy wire-fu à la Flying Dagger or Butterfly Sword.

The Avenging Quartet 1.5/5
"Get ready to rumble as the four greatest femme fatales in the history of Hong Kong action cinema come together for the first time as the tomb raiders. A perfect blend of top notch cast, gunplay, martial arts, and femme fatale action!"
Not really.

hey,
indeed, that was a kick ass poster but not only unrelated to to any scene in the film, it set itself up to great expectations.

hey,
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure 3/5
Hasn't aged well in parts and the whole "dude" talk is more annoying than funny. Yet, the film offers up harmless entertainment, especially when the history figures runs amok, and underneath it all it has a very sincere message about the world. Never knew it was scope either.

Volver 7 out of 10
It's such a shame there aren't more Pedro Almodóvar's making films. I've only seen two of his films and both have been so refreshing. The other was Bad Education (although I have Open Flesh, All about my Mother and Talk to Her on DVD).
This like the last is so full of life and vibrancy. It's also really refreshing to see a film deal with sex in an adult fashion instead of the usual conservatism, American pie humour or smut. Not that there is much sex per say in Volver (lots of cleavage though).
It's equally really, really refreshing to see women in the central role for once and not only that well rounded strong women. Not your usual sex object.
As for the film Penelope Cruz puts in a great performance. Like Jackie Chan she really should stick to her own country she's wasted in Hollywood. Don't get me wrong I don't think she's an outstanding actress but in this she does a fine job.
She'll always be the good looking Spanish bird in Hollywood films.
The story is all over the place but in a new and original way with new plot points thrown in every minute.
No it's not as good as Bad Education IMO but in short top stuff and boy it manages to make Spain look like somewhere I have to visit.

Dust Devil - 3.5/5
I watched it this evening. Good moody film, but it goes downhill in the 3rd act. The film's score is utterly superb and has beautiful cinematography. Subversive's transfer is excellent, only let-down by the lower resolution of NTSC.

hey,
Enter The Phoenix 3/5
Surprisingly entertaining directing debut by Stephen Fung but not without its flaws. Fung decides to deconstruct the conventions of the triad genre but has a little trouble balancing his beats so we're not quite sure he's being so called witty or serious at times.

Apocalypse Now: Redux - 5/5
I didn't watch the original cut, just went straight to the director cut or redux and have to say this film is simply excellent, loved the surrealness of the last act. Everything in the movie is simply an nightmare, the cinematography is just sooo good, the whole story is sooo good, and it's actually hard hitting today (what with the iraq war going on), the movie is simply insane.
Glad I brought the dossier version, would now want to watch the original cut. I really loved the french plantation scene, very character driven. Martin Sheen voiceover is just soooo good as well.

Def, I think they was loosing money towards the end, but def agree with the film score. South Africa just looks amazing, and Subversive are just getting soo good with their transfer now. Anchor Bay/Blue Underground watch out

Hey Dust Devil is fine and all that, but
WATCH ALL THE EXTRAS! they are far, far better than the film itself. The docs on the other dvds are good, but really its the commentaries that blew me away! staggering stories of death and shit, best extras ever I say.
