No, Flash video is great. The perfect delivery system for light-weight streaming content that loads in no time. Totally DRM free too. Before the invention of FLV, we had to put up with the shit Real media formats (low res , but strangely it still had absolute arse streaming performance); and WMV (not shit, but loaded to the gills with DRM. Also has terrible streaming performance). This aforementioned shit was always buffering, rebuffering. Absolutely endless.

Th is all in my personal experience. Internet connections are still very ghetto in NZ, we only unbundled the local very recently. The monopolistic government owned Telecom was keeping our internet in the stone age (and not forgetting the high prices, for absolute shit plans), 5 years behind the rest of the world. Finally parliament put their foot down.

Oh fair enough don't get me wrong it easily beats RealMedia (in every way) and WMV (for streaming) both of which have to buffer even on an 8Mb connection but I'd still prefer proper download high quality links. That's what I really meant.

I presume RM does on 8Mb I refuse to install on it on my Vista PC. I've only seen the BBC website which still uses RM on most of it's site.

Companies love Real and Windows media video formats because of the DRM options. For the likes of BBC streaming content, they want something will be unviewable 7 days after the original TV broadcast.

Yeah I just wish they wouldn't use RM though. It is weird Adobe haven't added DRM to Flash.
