Pity Warner have decided to call the UK HD-DVD/BD Road Warrior then

The US trailers/TV spots on my MM1 SE seem to suggest that Mad Max 2 was actually released before no.1 in the USA.

According to a DVD Talk review it bombed so was part 2 was renamed.

How did it bomb

DVDTalk obviously have no idea what they are talking about, it cost a few hundred thousand $ to make, and made millions of $

Thats a bomb. If they say so. Some people need to research before calling films bombs I think.

All 3 Mad Max films made a gigantic amount of cash, esspecially as they cost bugger all to make. None bombed at all.

Never mind, if someone on the internet says it bombed, then this take over reality and becomes fact.

Its spawned 2 sequels for a reason. Not becuase it "Bombed"

Maybe "bombed" isn't the right word. But the distributor redubbed the movie and showed it little respect. It wasn't really until Mad Max 2 that the original got any real respect in the US. 2 made twice as much money as 1 and 3 twice as much as 2; they all made nice profits on smallish budgets.

Woeful? You're being too kind. It's not quite on par with Malaysian/Singaporean English dubs of Japanese television, but it's close.

I love the american dub, so cheesy it is. It's available on the japanese DVD, I don't remember if it is on the R1.

no, no, the jap DVD was the first DVD with both soundtracks, the american & the australian, alas it's not anamorphic.

A film that made its budget back many times over in a country is no Bomb.

Bad reporting even using a word like that for a film that made massive amounts of profit the world over. Dubbed etc, or not, its still one hell of hit everywhere.

Its like calling Titanic a Bomb, becuase it only made a Billion $

Mad Max cost a few hundred Thousand $ and made nearly $10 million in America alone, what a bomb, esspecially as it went on to earn nearly $100 Million worldwide.

The R4 SE looks like a re-release with new booklet, francy slipcase, new cover art and a much cheaper price (50% less). The disc looks to be the same. It's in stock here:

It's 0.58 Cents cheaper at DVD Crave and works out £9.02 delivered. I would've ordered it if it was £7 but £9 is just a bit too much for the "DVD". I'll wait.

It's still out of stock at EzyDVD but if you look at the original link Grim posted it has details of the "Die-Cut & Foil-Enhanced Slipcase Packaging".

My god what happened to the British Pound to Australian Dollar! It always used to be roughly 3 Dollars to 1 Pound, it's now 2.2 Dollars to the Pound. That's some drop!

You're surprised by it being on the same bloody disc? Roadshow have been doing this shit like this for years, this probably is like their 3rd re-release of Mad Max alone.

Don't know what happened to it and I don't really care. I lost track of my DVDs in late 2006.

What's the Mad Max 2 audio situation? I just picked the warner bros dvd for 5€ (wasn't thinking very clearly at that moment) and well, the 5.1 sound doesn't exactly sound great. Is there better audio available for this film?

You picked up a shitty disc from the jurassic era of the DVD format. The only versions of Mad Max 2 worth owning are the HD remasters, unfortunately.

The picture is good enough for me, I don't mind Mad Max looking a bit rough. I was just hoping some disc would offer better audio, but I guess not. But thanks for the info, guys.
