I guess Part 2 isnt exatcly full of new stuff, but hey from what I have seen its slightly the best picture you can get for the film and hell thats worth something I guess

Are they no longer called Rewind? From my perspective I think DVD Compare is excellent for what it sets out to achieve:

* Basic DVD Specification (keyword) comparisons, for that they get it right 90% of the time.

I use them to get a quick idea of what's better and then go and read reviews. I don't rely on the "Cuts" section at all.

Kick the shit out of loads of people if it gets a proper dvd, in fact kill loads of prisoners while they are at it, in fact kill massive amounts of prison scum to get me my dvd, as lots of them deserve it and more.

I remember I had a tiff with some moron who worked for Rewind a few years back. He wouldn't believe my specs for Army of Darkness: Bootleg Edition, when I owned the bloody disc. Instead he insisted on using information from play.com.

Ok they don't do that anymore but I still don't 100% trust their info - like you say, it's better to source a few reviews.

It annoys me "Rules of Attraction" is listed as cut in the UK R2 (BBFC, which it is) but the R1 is an "alternate cut" or some such bollocks.

The MPAA cut the R1 and BBFC the UK R2, they're both very much cut, just a different censorship board. I tried explaining this but they wouldn't listen. The R1 is even listed as "Uncut" - WTF???

The R4 and Scandinavian R2 is Uncut, the R1 and UK R2 is very much not.

To me anyway hitting someone in the face just so you can get a DVD released is way out of proportion.

I'd hit loads of people in the face for a good DVD release. Maybe 20 random people on the street for a full cut of Kill Bill, but that's because I much prefer Vol. 1.

Who has Kill Bill in the US now anyway? Is it still with Disney or did Weinsteins take it with them?

Miramax have 1 & 2. Weinsteins have the massive cut.

I always play ALL my movies with subititles. So also english movies. It's not like I cant understand it, but occasionally you'll come across mumbled lines or other sounds making the dialogue difficult to hear.
I'm so used to reading subs anyway (in Holland, unlike most countries, most foreign shows are still subtitled instead of dubbed...) so it's no bother. I can pay attention to both the subs and the movie itself without 1 thing distracting me from the other.

(Same here in Finland. I've never even seen a live action movie dubbed in finnish. Everything except some kid's shows are shown in their original language with finnish subtitles. Some of the 90's Jackie Chan films were shown dubbed in english though. But I blame Disney for that...)

I used to watch english language movies with english subs. Nowadays I watch them without, but it always takes a little time (maybe 10 minutes) to get used to watching a film without subtitles. I've been watching my movies with subtitles all my life, first finnish, then english. Having to listen to the dialogue feels so strange now

English isn't your first language (even if you can understand 99% of it) and as you say English films are shown with subs.

The packaging is crazy. The outer box is huge, it's then packaged lots of green tissue paper followed by finally bubble wrap

It's not surface mail, it's surface airlift and it's extremely rare for it to be much slower than airmail. Everything I've ever had by SAL has arrived had been as fast as airmail or 1-2 days longer.

I never knew that. How does Airmail and Surface Airlift differ then?

Well supposedly SAL deliveries are sent by air over the sea and by ground otherwise and has less priority than airmail. In practice to the UK it's just 2nd class airmail. I guess they may fly it from or to fewer destinations but it seems to fly straight here just a little slower sometimes.
