I asked from the list I provided which you recommended? -

The Swordsman
Yes Madam
Moon Warriors
Zu Warriors
Once a Thief

That's about it of the ones I don't have that I possibly would like.

I've been humming and harring over Seoul Raiders. I hear it's utter rubbish but does have Shu Qi so can't be all bad.

How much are Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock in Yes Madam?

I hear it spends most of the time on 3 silly crooks, right/wrong? I like ITLOD4 and have RW (Fox FS R1) but haven't seen it yet.

I think "Once a Thief" has always been a very underrated movie. As it is a John Woo-film, people were expecting John Woo stuff like "The Killer", "A Better Tomorrow" etc. It has some nice action, but people should just treat it as what it is, an action/comedy/drama which I personally really enjoyed.

Are any of these discs worth getting from HKL or are there better versions out there? I'm looking for the longest running time and an English subtitled version (I know that all of these have English subtitles where needed), I also lik extras but no to the detriement of the film on the disc.

King Of Beggars
Seoul Raiders
Seven Swords
She Shoots Straight
The Master
Warriors 2

Bichunmoo
Crying Fist
Ichi The Killer
Ichi The Killer Anime
Musa The Warior
Once Upon A Time In High School
The Brotherhood
The Champion
The Grudge 1
Volcano High
Warrior King

Is the HKL Seven Swords the longest running time available? I've heard that the director had to cut it down from what he originally wanted and I'm not really holding my breathe for it come out.

I have no clue about the Premier Asia titles. I've heard some have an International Cut and only the Korean release has the full cut however they don't have English subtitles do they? So its probably better to get the PA versions right?

Also do HKL own the rights to "A Chinese Ghost Story 3"? I'm hoping for a boxset of the trilogy. And speaking of boxsets, does anyone know what will be in the Bruce Lee Platuinum Boxset besides the Platinum Editions of the films? Is there going to be an extra disc exclusive to the boxset which meant if you bought all the Platinum Editions by themselves, it would really annoy you if you were that bothered by the exclusive disc?

Sorry for all the questions but I find that this forum is a nice place to ask them.

Romero, I know what about wishing you had waitied to buy HKL, me too!
Brad, I didn't like Beast Cops but I hope you manage to find something in it that you like.

King Of Beggars - I believe it's the best and uncut, I could be mistaken on this one.
Seoul Raiders - Yes it's the best and is uncut
Seven Swords - It's cut by 13 minutes in the UK, get the forthcoming Dragons Den R1: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63431
She Shoots Straight - Yes it's the best and is uncut
The Master - Yes it's the best and is uncut
Warriors 2 - Yes it's the best and is uncut, there is also a R1 Fox using the same master. I "think" it has DD2.0 too not found here.

Bichunmoo - Yes it's the best and is uncut
Crying Fist - Is cut by 13 minutes, so is the HK DVD. The Korean DVD is uncut though: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=60032
Ichi The Killer - Cut by the BBFC by 13 minutes, the R1 has a director's commentary but that's it, the Dutch R2 has all the HKL 2 Disc extras bar the Bey Logan commentary, both are uncut (personally I'd track down the Dutch R2): http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2230
Ichi The Killer Anime - I believe it's the best and uncut, I could be mistaken on this one
Musa The Warrior - It's the best version of the International Cut (20 minutes shorter) but if you want the Director's Cut get the R4 (Remastered subs over the Korean DVD)
Once Upon A Time In High School - Yes it's the best and is uncut
The Brotherhood - Yes it's the best and is uncut
The Champion - Yes it's the best and is uncut
The Grudge 1 - Yes it's the best and is uncut (make sure you pick the 2 disc)
Volcano High - It's the best version of the International Cut (shorter) but if you want the Director's Cut get the Korean or Scandinavian DVD, both have English subtitles
Warrior King - A close call between the Dragons Den R1 and UK Premier Asia, both are about equal extras wise (PA has Interviews, DD has Making Of + other stuff) but the R1 does have the International Cut getting in the way. Both have the Director's Cut too (UK only has this). IMO the UK Premier Asia is better: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63432

Is the HKL Seven Swords the longest running time available? - No definitely not wait for the Dragons Den R1. The longest cut is the HK Theatrical Cut found on all releases except the HKL, and neither am I as some of the extra footage was never finished.

Korean release has the full cut however they don't have English subtitles do they? - Virtually every Korean DVD has English subs for the film but not extra, you'll have to ask as some are cut but many are not.

Also do HKL own the rights to "A Chinese Ghost Story 3"? I'm hoping for a boxset of the trilogy. - Yes but it's unreleased. There is an HK IVL Trilogy Box set released using the Fortune Star master. I don't know how Parts 1 and 2 compare but it's worth checking.

And speaking of boxsets, does anyone know what will be in the Bruce Lee Platuinum Boxset besides the Platinum Editions of the films? - No one even knows there's going to be a box set as nothing at all has been announced, although agreed it is likely.

Is there going to be an extra disc exclusive to the boxset which meant if you bought all the Platinum Editions by themselves, it would really annoy you if you were that bothered by the exclusive disc? - Same here. It's up to you to risk it or wait. I've not waited.
Brad, I didn't like Beast Cops but I hope you manage to find something in it that you like.
Cheers. I hope I've helped.

Actually the BBFC have only cut around 3mins... the HK is considerably worse off with around 13 mins.

The Dutch R2 is the only way forward - managed to get a good trade for it (especially now that it's OOP and not easy to find).

The R1 looks fine too. Oops I meant 3 minutes, I thinking of those others which are 13 minutes.

The R1 is inferior in the picture quality dept IIRC. Otherwise I would've just got that over the Dutch R2.

Wouldn't call it the best. In terms of picture quality, yes. But it has a new soundtrack and sound effects were edited, so that certain kicks, sound like explosions. It's clearly not HKLs fault though as Fortune Star messed that up. It didn't bother me too much, but there are the purists who think that it is a real shame what happened there, especially considering the fact that the picture quality is so great and the extras are really cool as well.

My review:

And brad, it's Dragon Dynasty, not Dragon's Den.

He he oops I knew that ;)

As for the DVD. Considering you have to pick "A" DVD isn't it therefore the best? (the old HK DVD has the original Stereo/Mono but looks awful so, you get the idea). That's the way I think of it anyway, no point moaning when "overall" it's still the best, yes/no?

I did say I thought the R1 has DD2.0 meaning the HKL doesn't (does it? If not it's not like you have any choice but to get the HKL, worts and all). I was only giving 1 sentence answers also to be fair.

p.s - I would say it's HKLs fault though for being lazy and not creating a new mix, like they usually do.

Cut HKL some slack with Warriors Two, it was their very first release that utilised the FS HD masters. People complained and they listened and thus the original mono has been on every subsequent release that used the FS masters(TBB PE aside).

Really? I never knew that. There Mono inclusions do seem to be hit and miss.

Oh and thanks for changing the signature. It's still annoying but it's not half as bad :D

Bullshit, of course you knew that. Surely you must've noticed that they slipped mono tracks onto subsequent releases like The Master and Duel to the Death after all the old school kungfu fans here moaned about the Warriors Two release.

The ones without mono since Warriors Two have used Media Asia prints (eg ABT2, CoF) (It is "their" BTW.).
