Are those resolutions NTSC and PAL friendly?
720x404 is 16/9, in both NTSC and PAL.
It's not NTSC friendly, nor is it PAL friendly (it's much too small).
What about 2.35:1 ratios?
You'll have to capture at 720x404 and crop 49 pixels at the top and 49 pixels at the bottom (720x306 = 2:35:1).
Pressing Print Screen in WMP would that produce comparable results?
Pressing print screen in WMP doesn't do anything (all you get is a black picture due to video acceleration).
Media Player Classic has a "Save Image..." function however. It's probably just as good as PowerDVD.

Cheers Tom.

PowerDVD is one of the easiest fucking programs to crack, along with the likes of Nero, WinRAR, mIRC.

Another request please:
ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (1976)
Especially the R1 S.E (Image) and R2 (Contender).
Obviously I'd like the extras but not if the image is inferior.
Thx.

Here's some Contender caps (I don't know how reliable they are):

Of course it would be better if someone here could post the caps...

I'm sure someone here must have the R1 SE and can do matching caps...?

I have the R1 SE of Precinct 13.

Thanks to Eva for the PRECINCT 13 comp.
Anyone have THE EYE?

Anyone have Yojimbo? I could've sworn DVD Beaver had a comparison but I couldn't find it.

I'll add caps of the 2046 R3HK MeiAh release once I get mine back from my brother.

Does anyone have Iron Monkey Platinum Edition?
The image quality for that is meant to be worse than the single disc edition (confirmed on DVDDebate but that website is gone).
I'm talking about the two HKL discs btw.

It's also confirmed on other sites and even Tom here to be the other way around. AFAIK they're about the same.
I would like to see a comparison between the PE and IVL FS though? I've been wondering if I should pick that Donnie Yen box set up.

No PE but maybe this helps:

The HKL is definately better than the IVL.
I recall Tom posting a cap which proved that the PE was better than the standard SE and prompted me to get the PE and ditch my IVL.

It does thanks. The PE and Original HKL's are virtually the same so it's a safe bet the IVL will still suck compared to the PE.
My god FS Remastered prints used to look gorgeous. What on earth have they done to cock up so many releases recently. That Iron Monkey IVL DVD looks awful.
I already own ITLOD4 R1 so no need at all to pick up the box set. Even though the IVL version of ITLOD4 will at least have subtitles instead of the R1s dubtitles.

The DVD Debate review proved the oposite. They also zoomed in and showed the differences like Tom did.
Whose right who knows.
You used to own the IVL box set Mark? Is that capture comparison a true reflection? (screen captures only show so much, a real-world test is better). Have you picked up ITLOD4 R1 instead?

My ex-flatmate had the HKL PE and I had the HKL single disc...
I tested them both and remember agreeing with the Debate review.
The single disc is miles better, the differences aren't even subtle. The PE is blockier than heavily pixilated genitalia on a J-porno.

Soon I'll have to start a "Official Bisc thread" with those quotes Bisc

I think both the PE and Original are tops in the AV department. I couldn't tell the difference.
You may as well pick up the Original then Bisc.

...and original mono.

I'm sure that comparison didn't prove anything of the sort despite their claims but the site's gone now so we'll never know.

No, I kept the IVL ITLOD4 (wouldn't touch the R1 with a ten-foot pole) and sold Iron Monkey (they came in seperate Amaray cases). Those caps are accurate from what I remember.... more so in the overall look than level of detail which is hard to garner by just staring at the TV. The IVL was too bright and colourless compared to the HKL.

I've got the PE if anyone wants to do ANOTHER cap comparison.
Does anyone actually have BOTH?

I didn't realise it was two keep cases. Thanks Mark.
The dubtitles bug me much more than the 5.1 remix. They're not great by remix standards but I've heard much worse + I kinda like the FS/IVL in your face approach (many HKL 5.1 remixes may as well be Stereo for all the 5.1 they add), not always mind you but sometimes it helps. The DD5.1 remix on OUATIC is the best of the three IMO. You get some surrounds effects which I like but you don't get the ott sound levels of the DTS. The DTS is to in your face.
But yeah the choice of all three or at least DD5.1 + Mono is the way to go.
The thing is in order to get those two I'd have to buy Iron Monkey and then faf around trading it on. No one on this forum is going to touch it for starters. I'd also have to trade on my ITLOD4 R1 which I bought sometime before the HK box set came out.
It's already my second copy after the HKL which I traded on. ONLY the interview is any good, the commentary is awful (No Bey) and the PQ is much better on the FS print.
p.s - DVD Active have access to all the DVD Debate content but have only thus far uploaded the odd review.

I was about to mention that.
Anyway, Bisc it would be awesome if you could please get Gould's to re-post the the comparison? I imagine it wouldn't no more than 30mins to reformat the thing. Cheers.

Don't bother guys. The only way to get a really fair comparison is if one person does it. I'll be responsible and sort this out ASAP. Seriously, the PE is noticeably inferior.
Eva, I'll give Gould a shout. I've been really busy in the office to work on Active.

What's the CE? I'm assuming PE is the platinum edition? Are they both HKL discs? Thanks LD.
