It wasn't a monitor or TV that fucked my eyes up. That much I do know.

My vision's getting worse by the day but I don't want to get another pair of glasses, last time they had the wrong prescription lenses but I couldn't get them changed because I'd got the prescription in Specsaver's Sheffield and got the glasses at Tesco Cleethorpes

Why didn't you just ask for a new prescription? Or go to a proper optician?

I've never had nothing but rubbish service from the chain opticians. Specsavers, Vision Express and Haine and Smith, all useless. Independent specialists, cost a bit more but boy the service and glasses are of better quality. I do always buy varifocals though, which the chain opticians don't have a clue about. Simple single vision fine but anything remotely technical and they're lost.

Because I didn't want to pay for a new pair of glasses after I'd already shelled out for those ones.

You make it sound like these chain opticians are picked up from the street and told to prescribe glasses icon_suspect last time i checked you had to be fully trained and have all the relevant certificates to be an optometrist/optician.Do you think these "chain" opticians are somehow not fully trained

I don't wear glasses. Never have.

My optometrist told me I can't wear contacts because of the shape of my eyes. I'm stuck with glasses.

Agreed. I use an indie firm and have had no real bother. My Dad uses chain stores and can never get the right glasses. What messed up your eyes BTW? I've been wearing glasses since I was a little kid so evidently I was born needing them.

I meant when you got the glasses from Tesco, why not get a new prescription first? A prescription doesn't cost much and it sounds like it was wrong.

In my experience they are. Like I said simple or single vision prescriptions I can believe they're fine but try and get a more complicated multi-vision (such as varifocal or bifocal) and they don't have a clue.

My glasses from Haine and Smith got sent back 3 times and every time the same fault was with them. I went to a new indepdent and first time, they got it right. I could tell instantly they knew what they were talking about. This experiance I've seen time and time again with chain vs. independent optician specialists. I knew it was a mistake to try them.

I'll put it this way. There's excellent car mechanics and car mechanics who know their job on paper but that's about it.

Presuming they're attractive, I don't think most people think that, if they're adults anyway. Agreed men and women "prefer" people who're not wearing glasses though, given a choice. I don't think anyone thinks of you as a geek for wearing glasses. My old glasses made my eyes look like the snake from Jungle book and gave me no confidence. They looked hideous!

Due to a medical condition when I was a kid, my lenses were literally loose and had to be removed. My Dad tells me he could see them move in the light. I couldn't see shit until I was 7 years old. The lenses prior to my eye surgery had to be so super strong, it made them ridiculously thick. I still have the glass lenses and cannot believe I used to wear them.

I was thinking the same. Get the right pair and they should last you years. As I spend about £300-500 a time, I don't change them for several years (usually about 4 years). As they're an investment for me I always get varifocals and decent frames. I've tried cheap frames and they don't last.

I always go for varifocals so I can use them for short and long sightedness. I've had single vision and I hated not being able to see when I wasn't reading. I wear them pretty much 24-7 when awake/not in the shower. I only don't wear them when I go out for the evening. I actually prefer wearing them, as I can see better.

Since when does not wearing glasses make you lose your eyesight?! People say glasses make your eyesight worse over time anyway.

You do talk rubbish somtimes Hung. Cute is good but there's a place for hot too. You cannot have sexual attraction if you don't find someone hot. Whereas cute means just that, cute/sweet. It won't alone lead to sexual attraction. It's not a strong enough feeling.

Hot doesn't mean erotic, as you seem to think. It can mean that too though. That's how I think of it anyway.

Hung has some strange ideas about women... best just leave him to them.

Actually if you look on here, I have reviewed them. District 9 got 4.5/5 and Bicycle Thieves got 4/5.
