Wasn't the 36 Chambers Blu Ray interlaced?
Be real about the subtitles. Direct ports from the DVD version(s).

Yeah, 36th Chamber was interlaced AFAIK, I think that had dubtitles despite the DVD having proper subs

It was actually reported to be PAL>NTSC.

Re. 36th Chamber. Bizarrely terrible transfer given how good their DVD release was.

The subs for Five Venoms need definite improvement but that won't happen I'm sure.
If they at least get the A/V right that would be something...

I seem to recall that they are releasing the FLYING GUILLOTINE films too.

Wouldn't they look awful on BD? Aren't the source materials in such poor condition.

What makes you think so? IVL already released their remastered DVDs long ago. I caught Part II on TV years ago, and I don't recall any quality problems.

There's a list of Shaws HD masters kicking around... unfortunately many classics (ie. The Sword of Swords) weren't given the deluxe treatment whereas some terrible howlers (New Game of Death anyone?) were. Unless someone goes to the trouble of paying for new masters there are a whole bunch of films we'll never see on Blu Ray.

Only because more recent Chinese films struggle to get decent releases (e.g - source material). I figured these would be even worse. I guess not.

Depend on what you mean by "awful / in such poor condition". I thought you meant "full of specks, messed up colors, slightly above VHS quality" like Master of the Flying Guillotine DVDs. But that hasn't been the case with any Shaw film released on dvd so far.

Weren't a lot of the (earlier at least) celestial remasters nuked by noise reduction to clean up the prints? I seem to recall an article linked to back in the good old days of the AsianDVDGuide that discussed the serious lack of detail in the earlier Shaw remasters. If so those titles will probably be released to accusations of "upscale" regardless!

I think some of the early anamorphic titles (say 2004?) suffered from below par remastering.

I found this link here that had a list of films showing on an HD channel (not all 60 of them).
Come Drink With Me isnt on that list so far.
