Excellent if relentlessy bleak thriller holds up well nearly 15 years since it's release.excellent performances and extremely atmospheric the dutch blu-ray has a very solid to my eyes at least transfer in the original oar.

I must've missed this one slipping though. How much did you pay? What's the audio choice? What about extras? Thanks.

BBC Itunes but sadly not HD! well not that I can get it working haha

That will be BBC iPlayer but either way, WOW! Damn impressive. That's big in my book. I barely ever use it as being stuck on a PC monitor it interests me not but it's said to be coming to Freeview HD (eventually!). So I can finally use it then.

Hence the thumbs up, as thats all TV stations are turning into I'tunes this and I'video that, the day I have to pay is the day I'die! haha

I did try the BBC on PS3 and it was not too bad looking and an instant load with no waiting so the software seems fine if you have no recorder for TV etc.. its acctually a pretty full looking system on the PS3, looks well intigrated into the PS3 at the press of a button and your away into the meues of the BBC vaults. Still HD I will see if that is available as I could not find it. Hopefully other channels are added so easily at the press of a button, rather than going Online the old way.

iPlayer it's iPlayer Romero. iTunes is quite different.

You cannot expect it to compete with most things really, remember it's all about "streaming" so is heavily compressed but that's missing the point. It's A: Instant and B: You have access to a massive back catalogue (within reason).

BBC iPlayer is also on Virgin and I'm pretty sure it's SD only there too. I "think" (but could be wrong) HD is online only, for now.

There's talk of ITV and C4 integrating into iPlayer as frankly it's by far the best engine. As far as I know only The Beeb have branched away from the web. Here we are:

I did have Channel 4's version on tonight to watch something I missed last night, does the job also.

Not on your TV though or at least via Broadband right?

The fact you have to install software, that puts evil shit in your system tray and installs a service too (I hate software that needlessly installs a service) means I'm never likely to use it. Why do this? When BBC, ITV and even Channel 5 is purely web based.

Wrong Turn BD 3.5/5

Certainly one of the best in the whole backwoods/mutant killers genre,this has a likeable cast (unusual for these movies) and some inventive kills.At 80 odd minutes it doesn't outstay it's welcome. Region Locked A disc,ok if unspectacular transfer.

The Stendhal Syndrome: 4/5

Excellent psychological thriller from Dario Argento, from its general consensus I'd definitely call it underrated. The CGI pills scene was a bit embarrassing though. The BD has the grainiest picture I've ever scene but is super film-like, more Argento please Blue Underground!

Solyaris: 4.5/5

Far better than the boring US remake, I found this to be on a par with 2001 and it kept me thinking philosophically throughout and admiring its artful cinematography.

Solaris remake grows on me the more I watch it, loved it last watch. The music is mindblowing, simply amazing stuff.

God its well worth £1, a sit back and relax film, so slow and stunning to look at and listen, sit back and ponder on the mental plot haha Brilliaint cast as well.

WTF! Erin Brockovich abd Traffic are excellent. Also:

Sex, Lies, and Videotape - I've not seen this but all reports say it's excellent.
Out of Sight - I didn't think much of this personally but everyone else likes it.

Ocean's Eleven - Everyone's allowed a slip up. I've not bothered with the other two.
Che Part 1 & 2 - I've not seen this but all reports say it's excellent. I seriously doubt this will be rubbish.

The Limey is ok,the rest of his work is mostly pretentious tosh.Out Of Sight was so smug it was embarrassing.

I disagree Traffic and Erin Brockovich is pretentious. In the case of Traffic, arty doesn't always mean pretentious. I'm not saying you're saying this but I sometimes think people immediately assume arty means pretentious.

Only ones I've seen are:

Erin Brockovich - which wasn't anything special unless you wanna see Julia Roberts' cleavage get a workout.

Out of Sight - which was smug, self-satisfied, and basically poor man's Tarantino.

The Limey - which was pretty dull and arty for a revenge thriller.

Have no interest in seeing any of the others, especially Che, which looks like 4 hrs of utter tedium.

Agreed, it's not great but it's nothing like Tarantino.
