My DVDTimes name is my actual name: Matt Shingleton. Can't say i'm that productive, so you might not have come across many of my reviews. :D
That's what I was suspecting actually.

And that's makes you one of the two dvdtimes reviewers I do know :)

I assume the other one is either Kev Gilvear or John White? They're usually the ones to cover the Japanese expoitation releases. :D

I was referring to John, but now that you mention it I do know Kev by name also. I can't remember what he has reviewed, but I do recall you calling him a big pervert :D

Ivan, can you tell more about the Prodigal Son audio? Is it just a few minor additions and not any Fortune Star kind of terror?

Fortune Star terrorists :D.

Na, 'Prodigal' merely has a few fire enhancements :).

Yeah, in Prodigal all you can hear is some slight additions to crowd and fire scenes. Very slight you wonder why they bothered

I don't care about the trailer TBH and I'm not gonna rebuy just for the title card (which AFAIK is also altered - differently - on the Fox); if the HKL audio has been tampered with, well, that's a different story.

The Fox has the original slimy green title card - Media Asia for some reason had a problem with them, see Mr. Vampire - but it's got an "AKA Spooky Encounters" tacked on ala the old HK DVDs. The HKL DVD is Chinese/English and plain white but it just says Encounters Of The Spooky Kind. Stick with HKL

Thanks Salty.

Cool cover art, otherwise it looks awful. A low price means they can give us shit!

Old I know, but I only just stumbled across it.

Looks like Contender's label wasn't quite dead yet, this past January they put out a reportedly fairly decent 2-discer of Shutter. Obviously just a remake cash-in release, but a release none the same.

An odd post given your opinion it's pointless posting old news.

I believe Shutter was HKLs/PAs last release. I hear it's quite a good film.

Shutter scared the hell out of me! I expect they might still do the odd Asian film but not under the labels

What awful cover art.

A (yet another) Hollywood remake recently came out.

That cover art is terrible.
I didn't realise there was a Hollywood remake for a sec, I thought it was a different film.

I didn't realise they remade Shutter too :?

The Ring Remake is mostly a turd too. It's well made but has none of the power of the original. Save for some dumb CGI deer Ring 2 is much better.

They all seem to take the basic idea of the original but completely forget to copy the execution. Which is crucial to these films.

the shutter remake is the worst of all, you should read the reviews...and the sad thing is that the director in an interview admitted that he didnt even know the original was a thai movie....that alone should be enough to shoot the bastard.

Today I recived from Amazon Marketplace the HKL DVD of Prison On Fire II. This was only avaliable as part of HKL's magazine range. Picture is anamorphic widesceen and a Media Asia transfer, with Cantonese 5.1 audio. Only skimmed it, because I want to try and find HKL's DVD of the first film, also one of the magazine titles only

Besides these two titles, and Heroic Trio, does anyone know of any other films that HKL only released with the magazine?

Enter the Dragon, I think, was the only other one.

No idea which version?
