You're what, 41 now? . Seriously about 28, right? I only moved out last Summer . I couldn't go back now but I do miss having so much extra cash.

My aim is to have a place of my own by the time I'm 30.

There was a time when that would've been considered sad.

Now it's quite reasonable.

Fucking house prices, fucking jobs, and fucking ecconomy.

When was it considered sad to own a house at 30? Lots of my friends/family have done that. I plan to have a house by the time I'm 30/31. I cannot rent forever.

I just dont want to bother renting with a friend etc.. waste of cash when I can live here for now and save cash. I had plans for a house by 30, but that went tits up last year for many reasons, bacially life sucks at the moment so I couldnt give much of a shit about owning a house or renting etc...

I'd not want to share with a friend/so called flat mate. I'm happy on my own. You've got to move out eventually. Life is better, with your own independence.

No seriously I am, I've been doing it for a long time though.

But are you actually looking for work? There's a difference between saying you are and actually doing it. How many jobs do you apply for a week?

I of all people should know what I'm talking about .

I don't actually apply for that many Its difficult to find suitable ones.

I can certainly related to that.

Eg I looked in the paper today and found one at "Trestle Arts Base" like a theatre company, which sounded good, but one was a manager job, and the other one said you needed "cash handling and catering experience" - I can count money But I have no catering experience.
Another recent one seemed to match my skills (what the job said I had to do) but it was with a bereavement network, I asked my mum about that one, I'd prefer to work with younger people
I've only had 3 interviews ever so you're right, I should apply for lots more.

You cannot afford to be too picky, remember that. Not that I'd want to walk in bereavement.

It's also worth remembering two things:

* Job descriptions to have to give very limited information, you maybe surprised how different the job actually is after you get the full job description.
* In a job interview the job could sound better/worse even more so again.

Again I should know this. Don't be put off too much based on a tiny paragraph job description alone. It's worth getting the full job description for jobs you maybe interested in, even if you then decide it's not for you.

I never said "own a house". Aiming to reside in your own place. In other words still living at home when 30 would've been considered sad. Some middle aged people still sneer at it. "I left home at 18... when I was your age...blah"

I'd consider it. But it still costs to share. And I'd want to move into a decent area and with a decent person so there are many factors.

"Place of my own" to means you have to own it. It's not yours if you rent. Anyway it's not important.

Don't be so anal. "My own place" to me means your home whether you rent or buy. Your name is on the door.

Fair enough. The truth is, you can never afford to leave. You just have to decide when to do it anyway.
