Is there anything hot at HKL? This thread is getting well old.

Nope.

No pre-orders announced at all.

Seems they've given up the ghost finally.

Apparently Contender were never interested in HKL in the first place.

What was the last HKL title released and when?

So why did Contender buy them then? That's weird. Dragon Dynasty seem to have taken their place. They still have an advert for "New Police Story" on their website, in cinemas October. Then you release it's October 2006!

City of Violence is due out at the end of this month, it's a 2 disc release too but under the Premier Asia label. It's a shame, the label was once so popular.

They currently have a £3.99 sale with FOF: PE included in it.

According to Toby Russell, Contender wanted Medusa because they had the rights to WILL & GRACE -- I shit you not! HKL came with the deal, and you can see their disinterest. We may have seen the last of the new titles, unless they're taking a break. Dragon Dynasty have nothing to do with HKL, but rumours suggest they may break into the UK/AUS markets at some point.

I know DD have nothing to do with HKL ;) . Thanks btw for the update. Who is Toby Russell?

It would be very interesting if DD break into the UK and kind of ironic too. The line up would have to be very different to the USA output though, HKL own most of DDs titles.

Does that explain the picture of Killzone/SPL with a BBFC 18 on it? ;)

I was thinking of that but is it still online? It could've been an early Amazon nod but is now not happening (soon anyway).

Possibly just an Amazon thing, they say this is R1 but it has the BBFC 18 on it.

Dragon Dynasty has already released 4 Shaw films and The Protector in Australia

Toby Russell is the director of several documentaries, including Cinema Of Vengeance, and the man behind Vengeance Video and Rarescope. I think he actually appears in one or two of those wacky 80's ninja movies

Cheers Grim. Now could someone explain to me the connection with Toby and HKL? That's all I originally cared about.

I know we've been through this but since my memory is so bad:

Is any of the recent HKL Jackie dvds worth buying (original mono even if it was in wrong language, better than existing editions and something that is not on DD's release list)?

Fearless Hyena is original mono AND correct language

I think Vengeance Video was distributed on the quiet by Medusa/Contendor - under the dummy company DVD. COM. Sounds a bit odd but what do I know about buissness?

Please read what Mark says at the top of this thread.

I wonder when HKL will release Drunken Master and Snake in the Eagles Shadow PE's :D
