Well I can honestly say it was a pure joy to watch this film again, from the wonderfull performance by Jason who underplays it all the time to the cracking cinematography which is absolutly georgous! its a film which is like a trip to france and it just looks such a beautiful place to visit and its shot so well for an action film, in fact I found myself getting caught up in the scenery and the images coupled with the music, well it pushed me over the edge! the film is a stunner.

Acting is top stuff and I love the way everyone acts (except Ric young! and maybe Matt Scultz is a bit of a turd and too slimey and skinney, he needed to beef up like Blade 2, not shrink away like in Blade 1) but the main cast and even the conies all do there work well, but its Jason and Shu and the french copper who interplay perfectly and its like some sweet romatic tale at times

But then we have some action too, from the amazing fights! the fights ohh the fights! I love them and the oiled up fight is just the height of perfect fun for me, Jason handles it all soo well and looks like he is, a total Pro.

The film is quality, perfectly made, with music perfectly placed and picked to bring out the best in the film and a cast which gel well and action which is just great and no stupid unrealistic wire work! top stuff and I await next years Transporter 2 qith mazimum excitement, just hope its as good as this sucker!

Oh sorry Romero, I was talking about Arnie's Commando. On UK VHS and DVD, this was cut, for example in the bit when Arnie hides out in the garden shed when he knees a bad guy in the nuts and chops a villain's arm off. Also there is a cut in the final showdown.
I was asking GH if those cuts were also in the C4 showing, but not that it bothers me personally as my DVD is uncut anyhoo

No arm choppage in the C4 broadcast im afraid - where'd you get the uncut dvd from? is the uk r2 version uncut?

Aye, couldn't get round to getting the DVD... but it's showing in the cinema just now.

£1.75 for a student ticket, plus the audience is empty, as morons won't watch a subtitled film. Can't beat that, happy days min.

Watched it at the theatre today and I must say that the new music is okay. Maybe too typical of European-American-"Hey, we go to Asia" music, but still cool. I think I only noticed two cuts.

Hey,

I got the Benelux or Dutch (?) DVD I think, quite a while ago, (it has French and Dutch writing on the back) from DVD Zone 2 who are Belgium based. This DVD is uncut and rated 16. I'm pretty sure the UK DVD is still cut.

When I got it it was about £11 but its' even cheaper now.

EDIT Yeah, the UK DVD is still cut - even more than I thought because its' seemingly been edited by Fox. The DVD I have is 87 mins long.

Once Upon A Time In China 2 - 4/5

Very worthy follow up to the first part. I think No 1 has a slightly better story overall, though I do like the progression of WFH's and 13th Aunts' relationship, with some lovely scenes, and also the new twist from last time when its' discovered that "kung fu is useless against guns" so the White Lotus Cult do something that resists guns.
The action is very good, and the fights between Jet and Donnie just have to be seen
The IVL picture is very good and natural looking but I thought it would have been more colourful somehow. It is much sharper than HKL's print.
When Jet says 13th Aunts' "name", what does he say? Rosamund says "Thats the first time you said my name", but he doesnt call her "Peony" (?) which is what the HKL subtitles said I'm sure, but a Chinese name.

Cheers matey - shall probably buy that in the new year.

Classic and everybody knows that! Although, I liked the first part best, I think this is a very well working sequel.

"Purple Storm" anybody? Starts off really great, but later just goes down and gets weak which is sad as it could have been really great!
Simon Yam was cool however!

Hey I really liked the film and this cut with actual blood in it does feel better, its still no Epic like it should be, but its now better and feels right. The cast are really enjoyable and fun and theres some great charecters in the film with there own special action style and all the main Knights seems different from each other. Kiera is georgous and does her action bits very well and looks nice all strapped in and stabbing the shit out of them men. This film wont change anything or make an impact, but for entertainment its just great for me.

Another enjoyable film, I never got it too much 1st viewing years ago, but now I seem to love the film and it just gets me going with its action set pieces. The music and sound work well and its not a typical action film really and doesnt just seem to revolve around the action like most films, its seems to have a bit more than that, mainly down to Brigit Fonda I guess . Jet is on form doing his bit and doing it all well and gets a few cracking fights I esspecialy like the final showdown.

Very funny! Everyone is great in the film but the Donkey is undoubtedly the best character who is hilarious.
