Shing is right - Bruce's dojo outfit has become navy blue. Thats as bad as his hair turning brown in the HKL CE.

yet when the initial 720p rip caps went up you said....grim_tales wrote:Agreed, the BD looks way too green and also there's a filter/haze over it.

When a cheaper version comes along. I'll get FOF.saltysam wrote:Caps only tell part of the story imo...the final verdict should be always be made with one's own eyes at home
Definitely. The HKL PEs also look a lot better to the CEs, neither PE is up at DVD Beaver.saltysam wrote:for example as horrendous as the HKL Pink version looks in those caps when viewing at home it's absolutely nowhere near as bad as those caps make it look..
Yeah, but who wants to waste cash on something that looks ropey in caps just to see if it's truly as ropey in motion? lol. Caps may not be 100% accurate to the playing experience but they don't exactly lie do they? There's no way that BD transfer is anything other than subpar. We don't need to buy it to be sure.saltysam wrote:Caps only tell part of the story imo...the final verdict should be always be made with one's own eyes at home![]()
Ah right, I was confused by this quote:saltysam wrote:i've never owned the FS release-i have the hkl PE and can only say to my eyes when watching side by side the the BD is FAR superior resolution wise.
I agree there's a big difference between the BD and the ultra-soft HKL DVD, the difference is much less pronounced when comparing to the FS DVD though.saltysam wrote:Well it looks like the BD has been struck from the same Fortune Star master to me....much better resolution on the blu-ray.
Err no Grim...i quoted you referring to the initial 720p caps of FOF BD looking very good then criticising them a few pages later...i'm not quite sure why you keep quoting HKL....that's not what you were saying looked very good a few pages back it was the BD rip caps lolgrim_tales wrote:There's no need for theSam, I'm just saying the HKL CE is a different transfer than the PE. Plat. Ed looks much better.
Fair enough Mark we all have our own opinions,i guess i'm easily pleased...i don't consider i've wasted any cash as this is the only version of FOF i'll be watching until a better release arrives....and caps must lie...Grim went from page 4 saying the caps were very good to saying they were crap by page 8Markgway wrote:Yeah, but who wants to waste cash on something that looks ropey in caps just to see if it's truly as ropey in motion? lol. Mono should be on there but i'm not losing any sleep over the fact that it's not.....it's the lack of the english dub that's pissing me offHungFist wrote:You people are making this all too difficult for yourselves. Look at the caps, look at the live video, look at the reviews. Oh, no, no. Look at the audio listing. No mono. Go back to your IVL / HKL editions and live happily ever after.
They weren't the same caps though, in your caps I thought they looked finesaltysam wrote:Err no Grim...i quoted you referring to the initial 720p caps of FOF BD looking very good then criticising them a few pages later...i'm not quite sure why you keep quoting HKL....that's not what you were saying looked very good a few pages back it was the BD rip caps lolgrim_tales wrote:There's no need for theSam, I'm just saying the HKL CE is a different transfer than the PE. if the transfer looks green in 1080p it'll look green in a 720p mkv rip cap Grim :lol:anyway i'm sticking with my Rank pre-cert vhs.grim_tales wrote:

From the HKL perspective they're not fair comparisons, given that HKL re-released both with much better transfers.Shingster wrote:I agree there's a big difference between the BD and the ultra-soft HKL DVD, the difference is much less pronounced when comparing to the FS DVD though.

The Big Boss is a towering achievement,a seminal film and certainly one of the greatest films ever committed to celluloid...i live in hope that the holy grail of HK films,a longer, uncut version finally surfaces! any release date for Way yetbradavon wrote:
TBB I'm happy with the HKL PE DVD. It's not one of Bruce's best.
Not in my opinion, not at all. Most of the film is average to dull.saltysam wrote:The Big Boss is a towering achievement,a seminal film and certainly one of the greatest films ever committed to celluloid..
Well, forgive me if i don't bow to your wrong opinion.tell me,why on earth do you own a film you consider is mostly average to dullbradavon wrote:Not in my opinion, not at all.
