No you didn't thanks.

Does that mean NEW ABT, ABT2, ABT3 DVDs are coming to the UK shores soon? Yipeey!

It's a pity HKL didn't swoop in and pick the ABT rights up when they finished with MIA. A HKL Trilogy box set would be lovely.

Those ABT extras don't look much different/better to the 2 disc MIA from a few years back. Still it's not common to go to the lengths of a Tin if you're not going to put some effort into the AV.

Is the new ABT DVD the new "UE" then Brad? I wonder when ABT 2 is coming? Its been on the back burner for years.
I'd be interested to see how ABT UE compares with ABT IVL, the IVL only use the theatrical subs which have some spelling/grammar errors, still not as bad as the God of Gamblers subs :D

"Its not uncommon to go to the lengths of a Tin if you wont put effort into the AV"

Isn't the recent Total Recall Tin the same as the old R1 A/V wise?

Yes it is. Who knows???, we don't know when ABT3 is coming but it wouldn't make sense to pass ABT3 and not ABT2.

That didn't remastering though, did it? ABT does.

I'd say Total Recall needs/ed remastering, its only 4 years younger than ABT. The R1 TR was a very dirty print. Though having said that the R2 Tin/Steelbook didnt look too bad to me.
Anyway back on topic.

God keeping up with this thread isnt fun, it just sounds like HKL are not exactly doing anything at all latley apart from the Bruce titles in quality. Still I havent bouyght a HKL dvd for ages, kind of given up any hope of all the titles the said were coming and may as well buy other versions of them as I sold plenty of mine waiting for these so called HKL dvds to come!

Herioc Trio! Executioners! my god it feels like what? 3 years now since they said they were coming

Yeah I was thinking that. They're spending the minimum effort otherwise. Still for me anyway as along as they beat the competition (not hard) I'll be happy.

Gonna get:

BIG BOSS: PE
DREADNAUGHT
HAPKIDO

Hapkido must be one of the rare old school films they havent given to Soulblade.

I'm really torn about TBB on the one hand the current DVD does need upgrading, it stands out right now but on the other hand apart from the last 20 minutes (which are very good) it's boring.

I hate to say a Bruce Lee film is that but it's true. I'd much prefer they re-release again WOTD and fix that awful picture quality. Especially as they now have access to the FS HD prints.

They won't though meaning it will really stand out against TBB and FOF. I suspect I'll more than likely pick it up but when it's cheap I'm not paying full price for this one.

Hopefully, the new Bruce box set will have the FS transfers. The trouble is its going to be difficult holding off The Big Boss - assuming there's new footage.

And I can't wait for Hapkido

gotta disagree brad the big boss is a classic imo 8) i don't believe it's boring at all,in fact the leisurely pacing of the first hour was a masterstroke ,building anticipation cleverly for when bruce breaks out into action. han-ying-chieh is great as the boss :) i just love it. i'll get this as soon as it's released. agree about WAY,i have the hkl platinum and it's pretty poor.

The annoying thing is I'd buy a HK DVD of WOTD: FS Remastered but you either have to buy the HK or R1 boxset or get it bundled with some dodgy Brandon Lee film.

CD WOW have the latter for £10.99 (after vouchers), it's just to much for one film. I've very little interest in the Brandon Lee flick, to me it would be an extra.

It will for FOF and very likely TBB but it won't for GOD or WOTD those were released long before HKL got hold of the FS transfers.

What do you mean hold off? Personally I can't see any new footage coming but I'd love to be proved wrong.

I'd buy that. But are WotD and GoD PEs gonna be re-released with new transfers? I'm guessing not, since HKL are lazy these days. Not that it really matters with Game of Death (I recently received the R4 PE as a gift), since that's pretty much a slightly above average Brucexploitation film (based on the standards of Brucexploitation flicks).

It sucked how Bey's 40-min edit of Bruce's footage was non-anamorphic. The way I see it, Bruce's footage is the main feature of the release, the Brucexploitation film is an extra.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read all the former recent posts in the thread.
Maybe I shouldn't buy the PE boxset then and just buy them individually (like the rest of you) since I already have one of the PE's?

That's what I was wondering... WAY actually NEEDS a new PE if you can believe that? So does GAME but it's a crap film and as you say, Eva, it's the Revisted feature that's the real treasure.

If HKL can find a truly uncut version of The BIG BOSS between now and July I'll owe them forever... :D

Loads of people on the HKL forum keep asking that but they won't reveal anything, though I believe Scott (Chenlung on ADVDG) has informed HKL about the people who have access to the Mandarin print of BOSS, so you never know.
Shame BOSS probably won't have a Bey commentary, unless its the same one. :(

Won't matter to me, since I've never seen TBB and thus never heard the commentary.

I'm sure they'll have Mandarin for BOSS also (well they should). Would be nice if WOTD had Mandarin in the PE boxset but I cant see HKL going back to it.

Was the IVL release of WOTD ever sold separately?

No. There were two releases: the Bruce Lee box set and the Dragons Box set (with that Brandon Lee film). For some incomprehensible reason the original release (Bruce Box) came with good cantonese mono, but Dragon's Box set was 5.1 only.

picked up king of beggars today. not looked at it yet was working lates but hkl really don't care now. the box doesn't even list the language options so the casual buyer picking this up in hmv wouldn't know whether the disc offers dubbed or original language options :( shamelessly cashing in on kung fu hustle epitomised by the quote "hustle this stephen chow classic home now !"
