Alien vs. Ninja (2010)
If it bleeds, ninjas can kill it! The first wave of Sushi Typhoon titles, a Nikkatsu sub-label created to produce cool films only, opens with Seiji Chiba’s directorial effort assisted by two full time action directors: Yuji Shimomura (Versus) and Kensuke Sonomura (Hard Revenge Milly: Bloody Battle). It’s a “storyline go fuck yourself” affair all about a death match between violent ninjas and sleazy aliens. Alien vs. Ninja is tongue in the cheek action fun with mini budget but high flying imagination. Guts and body parts are splatter over the battle ground, but serious brutality is kept to minimum, and the some of the plentiful humor would even make old school Hong Kong audiences blush. Special effects and creature design rely on traditional handwork and men in rubber suits, with occasional silly CG effect purely played for laughs. While the film could do with slightly more serious tone and more gore, the over-the-top inventiveness was greeted by an enthusiastic festival audience with big applauses 6 or 7 times during the film. Talk about crowd pleaser.

The female star of AvN, Mika Hijii, is no stranger to ninja films. She co-starred alongside Scott Adkins in the US production Ninja (2009), and played the lead role in Seiji Chiba's 2009 kunoichi (female ninja) film Nukenin, in which she really gets to display her action talent while killing a few dozen sneaky ninjas and dirty samurais with swords and fists. Sadly, the film isn't nearly as much fun as AvN, featuring a dull storyline, no aliens, and placing its best action scenes in the beginning of the film. She has also acted in the tokusatsu shows Garo and Kamen Rider Blade.

More about Maki from dvdmaniacs (ah. avmaniacs that is)
I remember her now. I've seen her in some making off docs and TGP Short Collection end credits I think... I was always wondering who's that incredibly cute girl. I probably have screencaps too... let me see

What the hell are you waiting for with Love Exposure??? You should have seen it already. Three times
Probably the best Asian movie in 10 years or so. Seen it 4 times, shown it to friends around the world, always loved by everyone.

"We got a peek today at our secret 7th film, now in final post. It's a splatter comedy starring Tak Sakaguchi, directed by Yudai Yamaguchi! It's also about baseball! Title? DEADBALL! Look for more details about it + some stills on our home page soon"

http://twitter.com/sushi_typhoon
and for the ease of keeping track, here are the films so far:
1. Alien vs. Ninja (Go Ohara)
2. Mutant Girls Squad (Yoshihiro Nishimura, Noboru Iguchi and Tak Takaguchi)
3. Cold Fish (Sion Sono)
4. Helldriver (Yoshihiro Nishimura)
5. Karate Robo Zaborgar (Noboru Iguchi)
6. Yakuza Weapon (Yuudai Yudai Yamaguchi and Tak Sakaguchi)
7. Deadball (Yudai Yamaguchi)
And as for
Zaborgar... I must say Iguchi quite a guy. Never a good movie has he done (even if I write like Yoda would), but once again, the stills alone are enough to win me over. A great film this could be!

"The other movie that I'm working on will be a zombie movie. The catch is that the zombies have teeth in their ehm... backsides and use their asses to bite people!"

A completely useless
Alien vs Ninja UK DVD review:
http://homecinema.thedigitalfix.co.uk/c ... ninja.html
Apparently the reviewer thought the film was a joke, and hence his review should also be a joke. He mumbles something about Toshiro Mifune and then writes about two sentences about AvN and finishes the review. Well done.
