Yi won't like this.. ;)

According to a post on the HKL forums:

Tom Yum Goong or Warrior King (the new R2 Dvd title) will be released on 30/10/2006 and it will be a 2 disc dvd also there is a Ong Bak and Warrior King boxset which is released on that same date.

......................

I guess the title TYG doesnt mean much to international audiences then, so why wasnt say "Bang Rajan" called "The Plucky Little Village" or something? :D

Bang-Rajan is the name of the village, while Tom Yun Goong is the name of a dish. Still... wouldn't have changed the title.

LOL what else could he mean?

It's a popular well known (apparently and I've visited Thailand loads of times) Thai soup.

Mark's more likely to be pissed :D

OMG that's flipping ages. Any news of it being altered? That way we don't need to speculate for 7 months and can all get the Korean DVD.

Me it's the Korean DVD is far to expensive considering how average Ong-Bak was.

I'm guessing but I bet I'm right:

Bang Rajan and Ong-bak mean nothing to a Westerner (what is Ong-Bak) but both are easy to say, so would Musa for that matter.

Tom Yun Goong is difficult to say and even harder to remember how to spell it. It would definitely lose sales.

Yeah I see what you mean :) Its hard to say. (Tom Yun Goong). I havent heard anything about it being cut though.

LOL why would Mark be pissed?
Actually I agree with you - as a film Ong Bak is average IMO (3/5-ish from me I think). The action is tops but the story is a piece of shit.

Hey,

Sorry if this has been posted before but Play have some Seven Swords specs up:
# UK version deleted scenes (including the original ending)
# Original version deleted scenes
# 'Forging The Sword: The Making Of Seven Swords' featurette including shooting diaries and production sketches
# Interview Gallery 1: 'nterviews with director Tsui Hark and stars Donnie Yen, Lau Kar-Leung and Leon Lai
# Interview Gallery 2: interviews with stars Duncan Chow, Charlie Yeung, Tai Liwu and Lu Yi
# Interview Gallery 3: interviews with stars Kim So-yeon, Zhang Jingchu and Sun Honglei
# UK teaser trailer
# UK trailer
# UK TV spot
# Hong Kong trailers
# International press
I wonder if its worth double dipping? You'll notice no commentary track on this release :(
I think an 18 cert is probably a bit harsh for the film - 15 would be about right (the HK DVD is IIB).

Also, according to Play, The Big Boss: PE wont be out till 24 July. Poo :(

But look at this - there's a Bruce Lee Platinum Box set out in October, containing the PE's of TBB, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon and Gane of Death :D

Apart from the trailers, the extras are the same as the HK disc, aren't they?

That HKL of Seven Swords sounds like a waste of time. I'll stick with my R3HK 2-discer, the extras are reportedly subbed too (haven't bothered to watch the extras yet).

DVD Times have a better spec. list + the names of the deleted scenes here:

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=60904

Oh cover art is included too. HKL are even rubbing our noses in it but using a tag line from:

Thrilling - Uncut

Magazine
grim_tales wrote:LOL why would Mark be pissed?
Because it's a re-release box set, he seems to hate them.

You sound surprised? :D

It should be a 9 disc box set IMO and include that 6th Exclusive bonus disc which is part of the current box set.

Is it cut in the UK? I thought this was left uncut? It looks like they've changed the ending too? Going by the DVD Times/Play spec.

What on earth are the "Original Version Deleted Scenes"? Some of the original cut footage maybe???

# UK Version Deleted Scenes (x6 including Original Ending)
# Original Version Deleted Scenes (x4)

Editor's comments:

All I know is the HK DVD runs 153mins, the version released in UK Cinemas runs 140mins, and this DVD is listed with a running time of 135mins (which roughly accounts for the PAL speedup). I don't like listing the titles of deleted scenes (no doubt someone would claim there is a spoiler in there somewhere) but in case it helps...

UK Version Deleted Scenes
Heaven's Fall Sees Too Much; Searching The Desert; Conflict Underground; A Darker Plot; A Longer Struggle; Original Ending.

Original Version Deleted Scenes
The Seventh Sword; A Defiant Village; Refusal To Sing; Love Triangle.

thelostdragon wrote:Apart from the trailers, the extras are the same as the HK disc, aren't they?
Not at all, HK DVD extras:

Making Of (17:32)
Shooting Diaries (19:52)
The Swords – The Swordsmen
News Clip of the Hong Kong Gala Premere (3:30)
The Duel: Dragon vs Transience (6:12)
Photo Gallery

The extras do look much better on the HKL, only the Making Of. and Shooting Diaries look to be copied.

From what I can gather:
-Yes, the UK DVD will be cut (by 12-15 minutes).
-Yes, the cut footage will be presented as "UK deleted scenes".
-Apparently some of the footage that was removed to make the 153min version will be presented as "Original deleted scenes".

That's cool, remember that uber expensive HK LE it looks to have the deleted scenes too + an English subtitled commentary:

http://www.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2. ... ode=260266

Pity it's cut as the extras are looking much better than the HK DVD ones, they're actually very limited. I'll get the cheap HK DVD then.

It's even more annoying when you consider they could've added both sets of deleted scenes back in and had a really nice 2 Disc Set! This really is stupid as it's to short anyway, making it even shorter makes no sense. People who buy the HKL will just be even more confused.

Oh yeah good point. CD WOW are often the cheapest but sometimes they opt for nutty prices.

There's a new HK DVD of this:

1. The original 2 discer
2. The same as above with LE postcards
3. The 3 Disc LE (the one at CD WOW)
4. On the 30/03/06 it's being released again this time without the LE stuff but otherwise identical.

Both numbers 2 and 3 have DTS, and because of this has been split across 2 discs. I don't like the sound of that but it does have those deleted scenes + commentary.

The new 3 Disc Standard Edition is HK $145/£10.70 at DDDHouse:

http://www.dddhouse.com/dddhouse/en/ind ... uctID=5325

It's not up at CD WOW yet. Brad wanders off to cancel his 2 disc CD WOW order and ask about this.

The new 3 Disc DVD looks the way to go!
