Sadly they don't kill customers with a massive machete.

I came across the following HK blu-rays for £6.49 at CD WOW:
Tiger Cage 2:

Eastern Condors:

Tiger on Beat:

Flaming Brothers:

The Master:

In the Line of Duty 4:

Royal Warriors:

Yes Madam!:

They maybe rubbish quality but at that price, it could be worth a punt. This price makes them cheaper than DDDHouse (after postage) and you shouldn't need to worry about import worries from CD WOW.
They've also got the following titles for £12.99/£13.99. Which doesn't make them bargains but no more than DDDHouse sell them for:
Tiger Cage
Bruce Lee films: Big Boss is excellent quality, the rest average.
City on Fire
Iron Monkey
Black Mask: Is excellent quality AND is also uncut.
My Father is a Hero: Is excellent quality.
p.s - Are Tiger Cage, Tiger Cage 2 and Eastern Condors good quality? I've never seen them, the Tiger Cage DVDs have always been rubbish quality. Why is Tiger Cage so much more? Do you need to have seen Tiger Cage before Tiger Cage 2? Thanks.

Very good prices. Shame about the discs.
Only one I bought was Black Mask (although I got that a while back from DDD House).
Are Tiger Cage, Tiger Cage 2 and Eastern Condors good quality?
By BD standards? No.
the Tiger Cage DVDs have always been rubbish quality
The remastered Joy Sales DVDs are fine and have original mono (that's what I own).
Do you need to have seen Tiger Cage before Tiger Cage 2? Thanks.[/b]
No, the films are totally unrelated.

Can you elaborate please? Are they DNR'ed? EE? 7.1 remix? All the above? So they're all a mess or just TC/TC2/EC?

I thought only Part 2 got remastered? If they're as bad as Once Upon a Time in China/Police Story mess (or just rough, like the Bruce Lees?), I'll indeed get the DVDs.

Thanks. Isn't Part 2 supposed to be better? More action? I'd consider both but Part 1 is oddly twice the price. Thanks btw.

Tiger Cage 2 is generally regarded as the best of the bunch, and one of Donnie Yen's best action flicks at the time.
Personally, I prefer In the Line of Duty (4) over Tiger Cage 2, cause TG2 has some lame comedy and the pacing isn't great, but it's worth a look if you're into HK action movies from that era.

All upscales. The China Star titles (ie. Black Mask) are genuine, if imperfect, HD.

No, both Parts 1 and 2. I'm happy with both discs.

Part 2 has more 'light' humour and fight action, as Donnie Yen is the star. In Part 1, which is on the whole more serious, he's in support, and the stars are Jacky Cheung, Carol Cheng and Simon Yam. Also Part 1 has more in the way of bloody gunplay. I like both a fair bit, but you'll have to decide which to try first.

Thanks. I thought Donnie Yen was the star in both. That would explain why Tiger Cage 2 is more popular.
Thanks for the info on the BDs. If they had Mono too I'd still plump for the Tiger Cage 2 BD. It's cheap and isn't going to look worse than the DVD (if all that's wrong with it is an upscale), it may even look a tiny bit better but I absolutely don't trust Hong Kong studios to remix films, so DVDs it is.
How annoying they didn't include these on the blu-rays.
p.s - I think I've asked this before, is there a list of which titles are China Star? I've looked on asianblurayguide.com but it lists them all under "Kam & Ronson", which isn't much help.

No list that I know of, but if you post the titles you're interested in I'll let you know.

Thanks Mark.
I've been sent these £1 CD WOW codes. They expire on the 17/11. There's nothing I want on CD WOW:
YKKV7TP9HK2KOL0609 and RURD9XFY272KOL0609
First come, first served.

Try using them with one of the £6.49 BDs perhaps?

The ones I want are upscales. Which I could live with (they'd be no worse than the DVD, possibly a bit better) but don't have the original audio. So I risk a likely rubbish remix for no better picture than I'd get from the DVD. If they had the original audio too, I'd be interested.
As said before, I've no problem with remixes in general but do when it comes to Hong Kong studios and Anchor Bay creating them. They're so hit and miss from those two. I was always impressed with HKL's and for the most part big American studios remixes. To my ears, they're essentially stereo with a bit of rear action.

What! How dare you!

Glad you were able to use them. I thought it odd they were tide to my account. What did you get?
