Freeview HD is coming remember Salty and Freesat is a lot of expensive for what amounts to err. 2 channels. I'm pretty sure ITV HD isn't 24/7 too.

At the time I was interested but that's in part because of it's future support of BBC iPlayer (no word of when it's actually coming though). Now Freeview HD is coming (which will also support BBC iPlayer but through Broadband), frankly Freesat is dead to me. I already have a perfectly good aerial, hopefully it's fine for Freeview HD too. I've not read anywhere you'll need a new aerial.

Although for Grim I can appreciate he can get Freesat HD "in a TV" now, whereas those won't be until next year for Freeview HD. Freeview HD boxes will be first around Xmas.

Grim: All you have is the "single" signal sent out of the dish split off into separate rooms. This is a very common thing to do (when I lived at my Dad's I had the same) and the RF cable as you've noted only accepts Mono. You need to convert the dish so it physically allows two different tuner signals/channels to be sent out of the Sky box at the same time. The current wiring you have will become redundant in your bedroom.

It sounds like we may need another LNB and new cables - TBH I dont know how many outputs the current one has as it was an older Sky Digital installiation in 2005-ish (not Sky+)... so it *might* only have one.

I Have Sky HD and it's glorious (and expensive) would be interested in freeview HD for the bedroom,how many HD channels are expected for it?

That TV has 24p Playback (or "24p Smooth Film" or something like that), what difference does this make when watching a DVD/BD, just that it plays at the proper speed so PAL/NTSC no longer apply?

24p eliminates pal/ntsc judder,however there is no such thing as ntsc/pal with HD.

I'm sure they can all be converted. Sky Multi-room has been going for donkey's years.

I'm pretty sure at launch about the same as Freesat HD. I've only seen BBC HD and ITV1 HD mentioned, maybe C4 HD too:

Isn't a better explanation: 24p eliminates 50/60p judder, which happens to be the same NTSC/PAL also work at. Like you say NTSC/PAL are SD formats. Except for a few discs that are sourced from a NTSC/PAL Master (I could be getting my technical lingo wrong here), such as Mulholland Drive, none suffer from PAL speedup issues.

All BD Players can play DVDs, that shouldn't be an issue.

I upgrade them based on good the film is. There's no way I'm upgrading them all.

I found the same one on PC World.co.uk for £80 (!) but it says its no longer available

I own the S350 player as well and can definitely recommend it. If you can get it for less than £100 then you won't find a better player at that pricepoint.

Can it be made MR/region free?
I can find it at some Amazon sellers for a little over £100.

No Grim, you'd have to get the player modded, which costs £175/£190 depending on how you go with. I got mine modded as I recieved the player for free.

Thats a lot. I should have said I just meant for DVDs though. I can't see any Brand New ones that cheap, only like new or refurbished.

GRIM! No offence but for Christ's sake. We've been over ALL this a few pages back, you even replied. It's SD DVD MR out of the box (with a remote hack) but BD MR when hacked.

It's still in stock at PC World in some stores but not many now.

Have you actually looked at Multiregion Magic? We've been over all this, it's always expensive to mod a BD Player for MR. It requires hardware soldering.

Refurbished is irrelvant if it's in as new condition and comes with a 12 month warranty.

As we discussed - the Panasonic DMP-BD60 and Sony BDP-S360E both look fine players so I'll get one or the other. Would modded players be sold in a high street shop?
Having both modded DVD/BD is too expensive, IMO.
Just noticed the Rambo Quadrilogy (is that a word?) US set is Region Free or should be, according to DVD Compare.net.
